What do you do when your friend gets married and stops playing Halo 2?

My freind is getting married in June and his wife to be is already sucking all the fun out of his life. (i.e. when we are playing halo 2 on-line he always gets a call on the cell phone and it's HER...)so I know it will get worse when he gets married. I mean love is great, but It has always been my strong opinion that once you marry a woman your life is not your own anymore, and if you have any hobbies or anything that you like to do for fun....FORGET IT....it's gone, done, over,Has'ta La' vista...Baby! So I would like to ask everybody that reads this to send Roary711@hotmail.com an e-mail,,just say three words...DON'T DO IT! he'll know what ya mean. Thanks. [Edited on 5/1/2005]

 •
Posted by: Ninja_Biscuits
Posted by: Recon Number 54 My wife plays Halo. Yeah, I am a LUCKY man!
I'm surprised no one said "Your mom plays Halo". Speaking of which, I was playing a game of Halo 2 with a couple of guys from my friends list when some person joins the game, called royal -blam!- or something like that. She starts talking to one of the other guys, telling him that he needs to go to bed soon. At this point I was thinking WTF? And then she tells the guy she tells the guy that she is giving him tuna sandwiches for his lunchbox. He shouts "NO MOM, I WANT PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY" I swiftly exited the game.
That is hilarious. Could be a joke though.

 • I feel the same way about the phones I never answer my house phone and almost will only answer my cell phone if your name comes up and I feel like talking to you most the time I tell my friends to answer my cell phone and screan people.

 • Phones are one of the reasons why I never get really far with women. If we're together things go great, but once I'm distant the phone calls start coming in and I start getting annoyed. I'm a great listener in person, but damnit, don't call me unless its important. I don't care. Guys, if we all start ignoring the phones, eventually women will realize that it's no longer OK to call endlessly about pointless matters.

 •
Posted by: Keith Byrne Um, its only a game, real people are much more fun to play with ;)
dirty that happened to my best friend in the last 6 months i'v seen him twice. theres just something wronge with him i'll ask him if he has to do anything and hes like I have to ask my wife and one day I was talking to them saw them at kmart and I asked her so when you going to let him come over and play and shes like hes a big boy he can do what he wants. SO either my friend secretly hates me now or hes been brainwashed. [Edited on 5/2/2005]

 • Here is a tip get a life of your own and don't let enjoying life depend too much on other people. Maybe he likes the changes in his life but hasn't have the heart to tell you, or don't want to hurt your feelings? People change if the change is big enough it also means seeing some friends more or some friends less or even new friends (especially haning out with new friends can be painfull!). From my 20th till my 25th I spent like 3 days a week clubbing from 12 at night till 7 in the morning. At 25 I got bored with clubbing 3 days a week, I wanted something else. So I decided to go to university (part time mind you!) and take my work more seriously. No need to tell you that I changed, I don't have the need to go clubbing that often, I started reading newspapers etc. etc.. All my clubfriends (the ones I still have) blame my university. They only see the bad things (the stress it sometimes causes, the dissapoint when I fail a subject, the ''boring'' new friends), THEY think I'm changing in a bad way (WTF??? Cabrona is reading a newspaper ???). They don't see that I don't mind the changes that actually enjoy it. Everytime I hear someone complain about their best friend get married and changing it always reminds me of my clubfriends complaining about my studies :)))

 •
Posted by: Recon Number 54 My wife plays Halo.
Same here. We make a good team, I'm better at long distance kills (sniper, BR, rockets), and she is better at close quarters combat and sticking grenades. We of course have hobbies that we do independently of each other, but you also need hobbies to share together. This is actually a rendition of a larger issue she had better learn to deal with. The larger issue is that she wants to limit his time to her. If it isn't Xbox, it will be something else (too much sports, too much TV, too much time with his friends, too much time at work, etc. etc. etc.). In forcing him to focus on her she will eventually drive him away from her, because on a sub-concious level he will begin to resent her attempts to control his life. The bigger question is why she is not confident enough to trust him to manage his own time / hobbies, and why she doesn't attempt to understand his hobbies. Her insecurities are the bigger question he should be asking himself. Of course, the flip side of this coin is that HE should also respect her needs and wishes too. Its all about compromise. His gaming time may be less than what your used to, because he'll have additional responsibilities to spend time with her, but she should not close him off completely to "his" time.
