Edit for Cozmo/Deej: Cozmo or Deej, if you are reading this will you at least inform us on how exactly the Developers are going about nerfing Blink? I do not see the problem in telling us unless you have not yet found a stable solution to the problem. It is a little frustrating not knowing how my fun will be effected. An answer would be greatly appreciated. Edit for fellow forum users: I am sure we can all agree on the fact that we want to know exactly what is happening to Blink. Whether we agree on the fact that it does or does not need rebalancing, we can agree on wanting enlightenment on the situation. ________________________________________ Please read before answering. Hopefully we get some good results on this poll. If you want my two cents I would say trying to rebalance a perk that is very strong is understandable.. Depending on the circumstances. There are two situations that will be commonly argued. Let's take a look at those situations. Situation 1: Blink is used to close the gap between two players. While the opponent using Blink uses a shotgun to kill his victim immediately after using Blink. Situation 1 is extremely common as I see it on a daily basis, and is easily the biggest complaint regarding Blink. 9 out of 10 games there is that one asshole who runs around with a Blink shotgun combo and sometimes many assholes. Though this situation is frustrating it is counter-able. There are one of two ways you can handle this and it's simple math. Your enemy is trying to close the gap while you want to keep the gap. Simply counteract their jump forward by jumping backwards and shoot your opponent while doing so. Option 2 is to whip out a shotgun yourself and pull your trigger faster than they can pull theirs. Situation 2: Blink is used to dodge incoming rockets or supers. Another situation where you will hear someone complain about Blink either being "stupid" or "overpowered". Honestly though this was the intent for Blink. A quick escape from incoming attacks. This is extremely counter-able. More so than situation 1. Simply time your rockets and supers better. Don't just throw them up expecting to see the kill feed plastered with your name on it. What really boggles my mind is the fact Blink is viewed as the bane of Destiny's PvP potential. Somehow Shoulder Charge and Fire Bolt grenades with Viking Funeral and Touch Of Flame are acceptable. Know what you vote is what you honestly believe in. I won't judge you for your beliefs. I respect all honest opinions and thoughts. Does Blink Need A Nerf? Edit 1: It shocks me to see people vote yet they have no argument as to why they voted what they did. Please, share your thoughts! Edit 2: Judging on the results it looks like it's pretty much even. Maybe we should flip a strange coin and see if we Nerf it or keep it as is? Edit 3: Do NOT think I'm some scrub who is defending Blink. I'm a top 1% player and am currently ranked 620 in the world for Trials Of Osiris (the only competitive game mode where stats matter). Also, I currently have a 47 DTR True Skill Rank. Check my stats at DestinyTracker. I say this not to boast, but rather to inform you. Edit 4: The majority I see people saying no have very little argument behind what they say. It's either, "Blink is so easy to use and get kills with!" Honestly? Okay, Shoulder Charge is easy to use and get kills with. All you do is sprint and press one button. The other argument is, "Blink shouldn't be able to dodge rockets! It's a rocket!" Let's be realistic. This is a video game where you can resurrect from the dead. If I said, "Firebolt grenades shouldn't be able to bring you down to one shot in the body." It wouldn't get nerfed. Tons of people say that and I say it constantly, yet it doesn't get nerfed.

  • Well the maps are too small for one. And 2, almost always the when the pkayer blinks he completely leaves the screen in an instant. Pretty much any counter that, is getting lucky enough to guess where they went.

  • Situation 1 is NOT easy to counter since maps are small.... maybe r usted lands or shores of time u could do this but even with a mida and radiant dance machines on a maxed agility hunter this strat is not easy. The problem with this meta is the only way to counter is for u to do it as well... to me that means the balance is broken. Look forward to a fix

    • I don't think it needs a nerf, I just wish there was a game mode that gave out as much xp as normal crucible does just without all the abilities. Most of the people who complain are trolls or people who want the same deep down in their frustrated soul. Yet bungie makes a game mode where everything is amped up to extreme butt hurt mode. The only hope I have for this new mode is to have most of trolls burn their selves out as a result or have people who can't take the pvp heat go back to pve or some other game where they can cool down for bit.

      • The shotgun nerf should be enough to nerf Blink. Nobody complained about Blink at all before Felwinter's Lie became a thing

      • There wouldn't be any problem with blink if there was a counter to it (roll sideways, backward). Currently if someone blinks at you, all you can do is wait to shoot the guy blinking and hope he misses. Why not have a reflex game? Someone blinks, you roll to the side and then the blinker is the one who's confused. I however don't think such a thing will be added to destiny, maybe in destiny 2, so the only solution I see is a blink nerf to make it either harder to use by reducing it's potential, make it slower after the blink (you know, you go super fast while blinking, why not a super slow ending to compensate? That way it'll become more defensive than agressive.

          • Blink needs to add a major penalty to readying weapons after use/initial accuracy. Then it would be balanced. As it is you can be killed by a shotgun before a hunter or warlock even comes fully out of blink. With really bad lag I'll be dead when they are still in their invincibility frames. That's the major problem with it is in a game where people already regularly disappear and reappear from lag blink just adds to the frustration.

            • I don't mind anymore. I've learnt to quickly change to a shotgun and counter quite easily but it can get annoying at times. I think people should just deal with it or get better.

            • Hunters blink is the problem. Their high agility makes blink travel much more. Warlock blink, because of our low agility, is pretty much a defensive option that rarely works. I use glide with my warlock. And double or triple jump, because I don't like trying to predict where I'll be. And the rocket dodge is supposed to happen. It makes you lead your targets. As for dodging a super, rarely do I see a player blink perfectly enough to avoid a fist or nova bomb. Golden guns maybe, but blade dancer, and the other supers usually win over a blink dodge.

              • Blink should be defensive not offensive. A penalty to readying your weapon would be a good balance. Also it should not allow you to live through supers, rockets fine. I think we need class items that make us immune to burn damage, this would be a good fix to the DoT abuse. Also your best character is a hunter, would it be if you didn't have blink? My best is a hunter aswell but I use golden gun in PvP.

                • I actually enjoy using it to escape. It is however, imo, too readily available to use over and over. Causing the shotgun blink combo problem you touched on. Lets face it, that's probably not what bungie had intended. Also, if you are top 1% it wont make a difference what they change. You will likely still own others without it.

I have not ben on the receiving end of the shotgun blink yet but I haven't been playing PvP that long. I have been set upon by many blink bladedancers and there is no easy way to defend as they move with such speed. They can also out jump every class when running that combo. Sure bladedancer on it's own is fair if you see it coming, I don't see how that combo isn't OP to someone who practices. I've seen multiple entire 6 player teams killed during Iron Banner with teams that have more that one bladedancer. I don't care about my stats so I usually stick it out but I have been down to 3 players when it happens, players just go to orbit.

                    • I'm an avid blink user. I rarely use anything else, and that includes PvE as well as PvP. The ability to teleport in a first person shooter is an extremely silly idea, and I'm skeptical it will ever work in a way that feels healthy for gameplay. I'd be 100% on board with Bungie biting the bullet and removing it from the game. Unless they have an exceptionally creative solution for "nerfing" blink, they're just going to make it less fun to use, and then what is the point?

                      • If the right person is using it, everything needs nerfed. Heck, I ran in to a guy using NLB and was straight up dominating, so I could call for a nerf. Same with Queen's Breaker Bow, Dreg's Promise and Nechrochasm. Blink has been of little to no consequence to me. The few times I have run in to it and it has been an issue, the person using it was extremely good at Crucible and probably would have beaten had both his feet been nailed to the ground.

                        • Blink is just as predictable as a regular jump. I don't use it in pvp personally but you can track it just as much as a regular jump you pull up or you pull forward that's it have a shotty ready to meet their shotty and it's an equal fight and it's a much shorter range than the other jumps and glides available. It's people who aren't skilled at defensive pvp that's butt hurt over this
