Mandatory 18GB Update
Seriously? Even without TTK, our systems will automatically DL 18GB of additional content? Do you realise how long that will take?
Not only are you trying to eat our wallets, now you're trying to take up all of our hard drives, and squeezing out the last generation of consoles.
How is it you can't provide a DL that replaces data already installed instead of tacking it on?
Edit: HD space requirements for this update are:
PS4 and Xbox One = 18Gb
PS3 = 20GB
Xbox 360 = 10GB
Bungie's response to this being too large for some older consoles? Get a new console. Nice. They basically deactivate someone's game and then tell them to spend a few hundred to keep playing it
For those who keep telling me to get a better console, I have a PS4..

If you currently own an Xbox 360 or PS3 with only 20gb of available storage, you can fill out a form and email it to activisioncares@activision.com and if you meet the requirements, they'll send you a USB in the mail with the new update

I know that sounds harsh, but it's the truth. Destiny is a living world that is continuously growing. This is how all live games are. That is what Destiny has been marketed as from the beginning. If you weren't aware of that, then I can fully understand your surprise. However, this isn't going to change any time soon. However, we don't know the specifics of the update. We don't know if this is how much additional space will be taken up or how much the download is. The latter means that part of it will overwrite old data while the former means that that is not part of the calculation. Also, the PS3 needs 20GB free but it'll only take up 10GB (PS3 is weird that way).

The 18GB will allow you to continue to play the game and enjoy MOST of the updates, and increased functionality that those of us who are paying for the expansion are set to enjoy. When Bungie charges you for stuff, you bitch about the prices. When Bungie GIVES you something for free, you bitch about the space it takes on your hard drive. Enough. If this game is THAT painful, go play something else.

I am afraid that this will turn into not so much. I do think there will be bounties and the like to repeat, but the weekly heroic was turned into a level 40 play list... can you level without the taken king? Other games don't let you. The nightfall may be also absent... their post says oryx is between you and it... so no nightfall until at minimum you've completed the story of ttk? That's what that seems like. I am definitely afeared they would do something like that.

3 RepliesGames are getting bigger, most are getting better, so if someone loves games they will prioritize obtaining a current generation console, both of which have 500gb and now 1tb of space. Games aren't even coming out for last generation consoles anymore. And dude, you have ps4, start downloading it before you go to bed and put it in rest mode. "Get a current gen" is a legitimate response IMO; I just got current gen like 3 weeks ago because there aren't any new games for old gen anymore! If gaming weren't important to us I wouldn't consider it an investment, but as soon as we could afford it we upgraded. No regrets!

4 RepliesI find no problem with this taking up space, especially since I can just delete everything, and reinstall it when I want to play it. The problem with this is Bungies response, their attitude is terrible and the way they treat their community is shit. They act like their community has infinite money and infinite friends and infinite skills with the way they respond to feedback posts and the news they make.

2 RepliesMaybe remove old game data you don't plan on playing, or buy a external drive to have the space. Are you upset that they are having the downloads before the expansion goes live in order to allow people to play that day instead of downloading and playing the next day.

2 RepliesHow much does a PS4 hold in GB? If it's in the 3 digits, then I don't know if there's much to worry about. Unless you have a variety of games to play. Time to delete some of the stuff you don't play anymore. Personally I'm fine with this. Got tons of space on my Xbox one. But I don't know about others though.

Year one was the beta. All the complaints and suggestions finally put for a change. Beta delete, new downloads for all. I'm not planning to get TTK still. The update will be nice though. Even without the DLC

These current child like antics where bungie requires us to ask them every 2-3 months to stop locking out core content because we know what human decency is wasn't what anybody signed up for. Nobody should need to be told at this point removing in-game activities post sale is wrong. If you attempt to do that or aren't intelligent enough to know not to do it then this game is overseen by children. Last I checked nobody payed 60 bucks to hand hold a developer every 8-12 weeks.

4 RepliesThere are plenty of inexpensive externals you can hook up. I'm guessing the internal drive in the PS4 is a 5400rpm to save on costs so if you upgraded to a large, 7200rpm USB3 drive, you might actually get a slight performance boost. That's how it was on the Xbox anyway.

Sucks but what did you expect? Even ps4s are maxing out on space with games like arkham knight taking over 50 gigs of space. Technology has its limits and last generation has hit it. Ps4 still won't be able to play certain games and modes at 60fps even with its increase in power. That's bungies answer because that's the only answer. If you want a bigger game you need to have space. Install a bigger hardrive or upgrade. Otherwise accept you are sacrificing quality to save money

I feel what you're saying. Unfortunately we're all gonna hit that wall eventually. But on a separate note (not specifically a response to the posted topic), check out the 1TB Seagate Hybrid drives. Nearly SSD load speeds with the capacity and price point of standard HDDs

I don't like these I don't like that. It is to big it is to small. Take it or leave it. Not everything can an will be exactly as you want it in your life, and not everyone thinks as you do. The best you can hope for is to give your opinion on a positive matter and if you really want to change things it takes a lot of hard work and you don't always succeed.

I have to give it to them. It is a live game and a lot is changing. If it isn't worth it this, round people will be leaving myself including, and i think they know that.
