Why should new players Raid?
With new players having the option to have their starting character boost to lvl25 from the start and no light levels on Raid gear, why should the newcomers to Destiny take on VoG(no story relevance), Prison of Elders, or Crota's End?
This is asked out of curiosity, not as an offended player.

They should experience at least a part of what we have. Edit 1: Seems people are taking my words a little harshly. I mean that I will help people experience Year 1 events if they still need to complete it, but until they have completed them, or plan on doing them later, then I don't want them in my fireteam. This is an opinion, so if you do not agree, that's ok, but please do not be rude. Let's have a mature discussion and not take away from the OP's post.

I really wish they would carry the RAID gear over. Seems like such a waste of content.. They were some of the best experiences I have ever had and to have all that gear made redundant is frustrating. Why not allow another ascendant system similar to etheric light? The new content would still be just as relevant and usable I'm sure, as a player we would have more choice and freedom. I love Destiny and I just hope that this is something Bungie considers :)

Not to mention, there's grimoire and exotics associated with the raids, and you'll be able to get a huge list of exotics from them (most to all year one exotics, based on the raid). This is why Xbox players have a little bonus, we can play the old stuff for Hawkmoon, Monte Carlo, and 4th Horseman. Edit: Maybe an achievement or trophy as well

VoG had a bit of story relevance with the HoW missions, and it will have more when we get into what happened to Praedyth. that's coming with TTK.

1 ReplyAt some point they will be relevant again and noobs will need to complete them for a quest or something. Learning them now will help in the future.

VoG and CE (specifically the abyss there) are the most "fun" PVE has to offer

I really enjoyedant to do the vog and everything elae that involves having a fireteam I just havent got round to find peiple to join up with plus my time is limited

I refuse to play with people who don't raid. They make too many excuses and I hate excuses. Plus they are the most fun partner the game imo

I've done each a few times already this month and I have nothing I could get from them, one was to help someone with an achievement and one was for someone's triumph, another was just an LFG for fun. And VoG has plenty of story relevance, just probably not in the way you meant.

5 RepliesThey shouldn't. The fact that the Year 1 Raids will not offer anything Year 2 level makes them completely useless. A huge disappointment considering how much fun each raid was to master.

4 RepliesThey are part of the game.....you wouldn't buy a new game and jump straight to the end. It's bad enough now with newcomers thinking they know it all when they haven't done shit. Last night I was on earth doing bounties and a level 4 who had really low grimoire proceeded to tell me what to do and where to go. I asked him politely what he was trying to do and he just blatantly ignored all messages and kept standing in places that stopped enemies spawning. So yh they should have to do all the content just like we had to,then they will get experience and learn some god DAMN respect for other players

5 RepliesWell up until the release of 2.0, the raids are the only way to get the best legendary weapons in the game.....primary weapons with elemental burns and such... You get chances at exotics & they were always one of the best ways to get upgrade materials. But yeah...as of right now, it's probably pretty pointless since the year 2 weapons will make the raid legendarys obsolete....so unless you are going for exotic chances, or the raid class items, or ships, or shaders,it probably isn't worth it unless you want a necrochasm, which is being carried over

There may be a shield relic or sword relic in the new raid and while this person that's on my team has all of the best weapons, I can't trust him to use the shield if I die Plus the raids are pretty fun

Raids aren't easy compared to the other parts of the game. Besides they are ridiculously fun. I just did vog 3 times in 1 day on the same character because I wanted to help people. And vog is super fun so I didn't care that I didn't get rewards.

With the way people complain about the lack of content, you'd think it'd be foolish to skip 2 of the best pieces of content Destiny has to offer.

1 ReplyBoth raids are good for teaching raid mechanics and teamwork if they're not at the level to play TTK raid. It's stupid they don't make the rewards on par with TTK, but let's be honest, Bungie's real reason is so people will buy the DLC. Kinda how Taniks and Omnigul seem to be every week in either the heroic or nightfall.

11 RepliesWhen new players reach level 26 they will have to play VoG, why do I say this? well they will have (Most likely) crappy year 1 rare gear,after doing Vog they will have better legendary gear then they reach level 30 they will start in crota they will get better gear than the VoG ones after that they will have to do PoE for better gear than the crota's ones and then they will start off with the TTK and gain better gear, just like you and me did.

1 ReplyIf we're a newbie to Destiny, I'd take part in ALL the game has to offer. Being a former COD player, all we had was multiplayer. That's it. I never liked the zombies or whatever side crap they had. Coming into Destiny I'm a little spoiled in that I have other stuff I can play solo or with matchmaking. Never understood why some people will play Destiny just for PvP and nothing else. There's other stuff to do and you should try it a couple times. If you try it and hate it, fine. But to not even do it and later on complain about it, that's stupid. Besides, doing these raids is a part of the game and can only serve you to get better at it.
