Nostalgia is a Funny Thing.

This post is bit wall o' texty. I apologize for the length. I was feeling inspired. If you do read all the way through, I appreciate it. Beta players: Do you remember how beautifully horrifying the first mission was? Or how the soundtrack for the Cosmodrome patrol felt truly fantastical? Or having First Light be the only crucible map in rotation? How about when they gave us those few days to explore the moon? Day one players I can imagine you feel no different. Going back and hearing the soundtrack to the Cosmodrome, it has left me with a butterfly type feeling. Nostalgia with this game is a funny concept. We've been playing for over a year, yet it feels like such a longer period of time. This game is special to some of us. This game means something to most of us. This game is apart of our lives in some way or another. We have grown just as our guardians have. Transcending into greater and more challenging encounters. Experiencing new friends and people from all over the world, from the comfort of our own homes. This game isn't just about who has the best looking warlock, Titan, or hunter. It's not just about all the sweet loot we get for kicking Atheon, Crota, or Skolas' ass. Or battling fellow guardians just to experience the beautiful glow of the lighthouse. It's about how we have grown; how we have learned to experience greatness from behind a controller; how we have overcome every single challenge this game has thrown at us. Like it or not, this game is beautiful. If it be aesthetically pleasing or applicably pleasing. Every single day thousands of us experience a great moment, a truly fantastic achievement, or an accomplishment that seemed too difficult to overcome. These events have only happened in the first year. A mere 12 months. Imagine how it will be in 9 more years. Things will get better, but for now, let's sit back and enjoy. Smile and be happy that we can play this game and truly enjoy it, with friends, or by ourselves. To just play it and enjoy it; be happy that we can share these experiences with people from all over the world and with our dearest friends. Because these moments are what create memories. Albeit, even though it's a video game about killing aliens, there is always a beautiful social aspect that no game other game can compare to.
