Welcome to Dark Below 2: Anything you do now will be useless next month

Welcome to TTK also known as Dark Below 2: Electric Boogaloo. We rolled the boulder up this hill for a year and now it's rolling back down. Looking for hopscotch pilgrim? Leveling your new iron banner gear that you grinded hard for? Are you on the search for some good raid weapons and armor or getting that solar jewel of osiris? Are you rerolling that skorri's revenge to get some better perks than graverobber? Stop. You're now wasting your time. If you are 34 and have your exotics leveled then there is no reason to search for new gear because all current legendaries will not continue forward. 365 is now the new 300. Trapped in inferiority. Raids? Do them for mats and shred anything you get. Prison? You're already sharding those pathetic rare weapons in disguise so keep it up. Get a sweet armor piece? Don't bother if you're comfortable with what you have. Anyone that played vanilla destiny and experienced the hell that was dark below's progression system should feel ill. Having an expansion act as a replacement was a really stupid decision. Hopefully they won't screw up exotic progression again but legendaries are yet again getting the shaft. This may actually be good but I sincerely doubt it. Expansions are supposed to expand content, not replace every facet of it. If every legendary weapon and armor were available this game would be filled with things you can get. Now that history is repeating itself you can now help to protect yourself from Bungie's idiotic and frankly abusive decisions. Step one: stop collecting new gear. Stop grinding strikes. There's nothing you can get now that won't be useless next month. Hell if enough of you stop grinding for a month bungie may just get a little worried. Step two: anything in your vault that you haven't upgraded needs to be upgraded now or sharded immediately. They want you to make vault space so we can shut up about it so I guess they win. HoW weapons are mostly trash anyways so you won't worry about them. Step three: don't shard anything you would regret if they made etheric light 2. So don't rage shard your fatebringer just yet and make a permanent altar for it in your vault. Remember your shadow price and how you deeply regret sharding it? Don't make that mistake again. Step four: it's time to edge your faction packages. Then stop grinding rep. You'll likely get a single mote each but who knows you may get something useful. Step five: only play what you find fun and -blam!- everything else. Are you glimmer farming? Grinding for marks? Trying to get weapon parts? When this happens stop playing altogether. You like trials? Then only play Trials. If they are going to render your time spent useless then stop giving them your time for things that will be worthless in a few weeks. Hopefully this isn't another stupid decision. There had better be new raid difficulties with different rewards. There had better be so much more gear that it makes up for it and doesn't make the last year a waste of time. But if you do this it won't hit you as hard.

 • Ol' Aulakauss has a crazy theory: I don't think Raid Weapons and Armor are going to be rendered totally useless. Yep! You heard that right, in spite of them explicitly and in no uncertain terms saying that all your Year One Legendary Are Belong To Us. They're overhauling Destiny and going out of their way to rectify things they done goofed on in Year One. They're also selling a bundle pack with Dark Below and House of Wolves in it, which would be a good way to piss a lot of people off when they find out the two extra DLCs they have are basically a playable version of 'Look how much worse it used to be!'. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they're going to add Level 40 versions of Vault of Glass, Crota's End and Prison of Elders, as well as have them offer relevantly rated Raid Legendaries and Raid Armor when played on these modes. Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner will obviously also be offering Taken King adjusted gear. So, while all your shit is going to be useless, I don't think you'll necessarily never be able to bring Fatebringer to bear again or run into combat with Black Hammer. I think you'll just need to re-run those Raids to get TTK-rated versions of them.
