Pie thread needs to go! Its setting a bad example and encouraging spam!

I dont know how many people have noticed this useless thread in the flood but I speak for alot of people when I say that thing needs to get locked, deleted and nuked out of the flood forum. Lets see why it needs to go Shall we? It's a pointless thread that encourages the mindless people in the flood forum to spam , the thread itself is spam itself , just because an employee that bypasses the profanity filter numerous times made it and it was one of the first threads ever made DOES NOT mean that it can just get away with breaking a rule almost everyone knows about. Ninjas can't do anything about it because it has been locked before but it has been reopened for NO PURPOSE WHATSO EVER! I thought Bungie.net was a place where you can have intelligent discussions with a calm community. Clearly this thread COMPLETELY defies that. Heres another reason It should get locked. A member in the flood goes and reads the rules. He notices the NO CAPS LOCK RULE. Him being a good civil person says...." Okay no caps " he then notices that thread where multiple rules are broken. He notices that then creates a thread with caps and spams in it. What happens to him? He gets banned. What happens to the ninja who banned him? They get yelled at because the user is asking why that thread is able to stay up and why they were banned? What is the ninja supposed to say? " Oh hes an employee so he gets away with it. " NO thats not how it works I know the motto " You have no rights play nice " but this goes beyond that! Shoulden't the rules mean EVERYONE has to follow them? Is that not what rules are? If people want to spam go to 4chan for christ sake keep that garbage out of here! [Edited on 03.22.2009 9:54 AM PDT]

 • I dislike the thread for the very reasons stated in the OP and quite surprisingly I have never posted in the thread (at least I don't think I have, somebody lame enough may prove me wrong). If the ALL CAPS were removed it would soften the blow but threads that have polls have the poll title edited. However this is Bungie's territory and they can use it as they please. Until a Bnet employee gives the go-ahead to lock the thread the moderators won't as they do not have the authority. It would be stupid without the go ahead to do anything as they would be directly defying Bungie something they cannot do without negative repercussions for themselves). The dictatorship is near. EDIT: Recon suggested the thread might be locked after its one year anniversary, I think that is the best course of action, give it a salute or whatever is needed and then be done with the affair. I can't say I've ever liked the thread, I honestly think it sucks albeit some funny things have come from it it is in its entirety one big spam hole. [Edited on 03.22.2009 10:40 AM PDT]

That thread is like a mini 4chan nothing good is coming from it only more mindless spam. So why not remove it? Thats like saying " Oh yeah I have cancer in my body but its only doing a small amount of harm I dont need to get it removed "

 • Notice the title of the flood also says "If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it goes here." I believe that is true for the Thread. Also did you notice that it was posted by a bungie employee; they can lock/unlock threads(I think). Btw: this thread is in violation of 7 different rules. Not really.

 • Anyone with have a shred of intelligence should be able to deal with the fact that a Bungie employee deserves to break a couple of their own rules in good fun. It's not like its an all caps thread spewing racism or bypassing the -blam!- filter or anything, it's just an off-topic thread, in the correct forum, which happens to have a all-caps title. And really, if it's such a huge problem, just stop bumping it and it will go away. And one more thing, you keep saying it breaks multiple rules... What rule does it break other than "Don't post in all capital letters"? I see no further infractions. Well, other than the off-topic discussions recently in the thread about how it should be locked and/or deleted instead of supporting their favorite pie.

I go there time to time to state my opinion of a certain song or story I see in there. But I was also unaware that you can post mindless spam in a pointless thread such as PUMKIN FTW COOKIE FTW I HAZ BIG GENETALS NO thats not discussion thats just pointless spam thats not needed. If i saw someone say " I enjoy cherry pie more then apple pie because cherry has a certain taste that I enjoy " I can say " Hey this is actually a discussion "
Also did you notice that it was posted by a bungie employee; they can lock/unlock threads(I think).
Yes I did notice that but the funny thing is...Arent Bungie employees people to? Should they follow rules to? Ughhh yeah? Unless you would like to set a bad example and just encourage mindless thoughts.

Achronos actually had to go out of his way and sticky a thread saying " Play nice " and increase the duration of a ban in the flood because that thread encourages to break the rules.

 • It is coming up on its one year anniversary. I think that might be a good time to put it to rest. Of course, I have (both publicly and privately) challenged drabominable to try to come up with an equally mythic and yet still very zen topic to replace it. Is he up for the challenge? I don't know. Apparently (based on his replies) he thinks that he has months and months before the pie thread is a year old.

 • The plain-and-simple truth of the situation is that no moderator that doesn't have a certain deathwish (unless you're Recon) will go up against drabomniable and his decision to make the thread. That's like the employees rallying and overriding the decision of the boss- bad idea. As much as any of us might dislike the thread, they don't have the authority to actually take it down. They would need to get an employee's permission, perhaps even drabominable's permission, to lock it before they could act. Well... no, they could act otherwise, but I highly doubt, as said above, that any mod would be crazy enough to go up against an Employee if they actually know that person is an employee. That means, childrens, that it's probably going to be staying up for the time being. And no amount of complaining or logical discussion will change this. EDIT: Well apparently I just got owned. Apparently Recon does have a large enough deathwish. Go Recon, go! We'll never forget you! [Edited on 03.22.2009 10:27 AM PDT]

It could end up closed and well remembered (both fondly and not-so-fondly) by many. As to a new, different, or other topic from drabominable? He's more than capable of making/creating any thread that he likes. If it generates as much interest, conversation, ire, love, frustration, and enjoyment as the pie thread? He's then 2 for 2.

That thread still standing is simply a testament to the true nature of the internet. As Mr. Russell as stated, the thread could easily die out. But it does not. Frankly, I think the thread is about a lot more than just spam. And I really loved reading drabominable's musings throughout the thread.
