So in House of Wolves we were able to ascend our old gear, but in The Taken King they're making light level gear worthless?
This is absolutely counter-intuitive.
WTF Bungie. Figure out something and stick with it. Also people got screwed over by grinding for gear. Whether you enjoyed grinding or hated it, all that time has gone to waste. I welcome change, but isn't the Traveler supposed to supply light for Guardians so they can fight off The Darkness? There are so many holes right now, what were the Devs thinking!?

They are learning as they go. Did you expect them to get it perfect right away?
-
Better idea, stop listening to the idiots in this community and digging yourself into these holes.
-
-
If you enjoy doing something it isn't a waste
-
Now before we discuss the rest of your post, I have to ask. Have you ever played an MMO before?
-
I'm kinda at this point too my guess is that the gear can stay just fine but your level will matter based on XP now, like most other games you'll play level system based on XP is great, because then you are not as limited by RNG on what drops you get and what you can do in the game, and you can wear ANYTHING and still be max level
-
I've been waiting for the answer to that question for a long time so I'm just happy that they've said something. At the same time I cant help thinking that they'll eventually add something that can ascend old gear. By the time that happens we've all deleted the old gear though so the forum will once again be filled by rage threads. Also, where do I find the official statement?
-
Etheric light was probably just done for fan service. It's rather silly that anyone expected to be able to use the same gear through the entirety of the first destiny game. Then again most people are not used to an actual gear based progression system.
-
rip every gun up until TTK
-
Same happened in TDB. It's so we learn to use other weapons as well and not rely on the old ones. They wont become useless anyway, we can probably upgrade them later again
-
No time has been wasted. I play destiny for fun.
-
i learned my lesson already with the 1st DLC when they forced us reset all exotics progress, since then i never bothered to actively max weapons just for the sake of it

Edited by NeoGeorg: 8/5/2015 8:44:32 AMWorthless? How do you think you're gonna get all the new gear if not with your old weapons? Do you think this is done in just a few days? My guess, our old 365 weapons will be just as useless in Taken King as our un-ascended 331/365 weapons are today - not at all.

Edited by Gh0st 508th: 8/5/2015 8:38:14 AMSo my fate bringer and gallyjhorn is gonna be useless????? Oh and whatta bout thorn and last word are these gonna be rendered obsolete?
-
I just don't understand why Etheric Light was even introduced. Why make such a rare, time-consuming upgrade path when it's useless is 3 1/2 months, anyway.
-
Edited by Crazypuddingcup: 8/5/2015 8:38:42 AMThe traveler just started healing when we took out the black garden. Maybe it could only supply limited light to the guardians until now.

You do know the first year of Destiny was still a learning curve for them. And the price tag on ttk. Reflects that this is a new game compared to the first year.
-
You don't know what is a MMO right?
-
Be kind with bungie, this is a new game so I mean it's only going to get better and it will.
-
Bungie is simply creating too many weapons and when they see one shine they nerf it. No thanks, I'm not going through all that shit again. What's the point if all weapons will be equal to the ones you can buy from the Vanguard?
-
I think Cozmo said hold on they will be addressing this when the team gets back. Hold on just hold on for now.
-
Ascending gear in HoW made sense. It brought everything from Year 1 up to a consistent level, and allowed you to use any Year 1 weapon in any Year 1 activity. This is Year 2 now. Time for a clean slate. Remember how cool it was to make your first Guardian and level them up, progressing from white to green to blue and finally to purple? Well, be happy, because you get that again, with new and awesome gear.

I will honestly say that Destiny was my first MMO game & regardless of whether it's the right thing do to for the purpose of progression or what not...I still think the're gonna lose thousands (if not millions) players! I personally know of 9 players who quit Destiny after TDB released the minute they found out that old gear became obsolete & they all said that the grind was for nothing. When HoW came along I contacted them to give the good news about old gear ascending...none of them were interested & moved on to Elder Scrolls Online / The Witcher 3 / COD / Battlefield / GTA V And with many other promising titles releasing soon (Star Wars Battlefront / Fallout 4 / Doom / The Division...hell, even Tomb Raider & Uncharted) many players are gonna invest much less time in Destiny.

So you said
"There are so many Holes right Now"
8D ROFL ! So what do you think you should do with those holes ? ( Funny Answers only )

if you played pre TDB then you know the feels with what they are doing now Pre TDB your level cap was 30, Vendor gear was 29 Post TDB level cap was 32 vendor gear was 31 Pre TDB Weapons were 300 Post TDB weapons including vendor was 331 So everything you did in Vanilla Destiny was pointless and allowed Xmas noobies to catch up without time invested They are doing exactly this all over again! All your raid weapons and gear, All of your legendaries that you upgraded or have truly come to love are useless...you can quit playing right now today and not miss a thing until TTK drops I understand they dont want us married to the same weapons for the entire 10 years of Destiny but then they need to make weapons that make us wanna move on...not GD shank burn

man, the game still in pre alpha.... the release is supposed to be in 2017 be comprehensive plz
