Can someone explain to me the importance behind iron banner?
From my perspective, there is no point. You pay a lot of glimmer for sub par armor that doesn't give you as many attributes than ToO gear. And it's not even light level maxed. You still have to ascend the armor.
Also, the weapons. Statistically, the weapons are okay. But what's the point of offering these weapons so often if you don't give them perks set in stone? Make them special. They oose how unique they are when you spend 400 motes of light just to reroll the same weapon until you get final round or shot package. Anyone have similar thoughts?
EDIT: I appreciate all your feedback and maybe I should look at it from a different perspective. It is a great way to get etheric light(not that I need any). But is it [b][i]really worth getting killed by a thorn?[/i][/b]

Before house of wolves iron banner was the only way to reroll weapons. Now its kinda pointless.

1 ReplySome may disagree, but I think the IB armor and class items are the most aesthetically pleasing in the game. (Perks are so-so at best) That's pretty much the sole reason I came out of my PvE shell.

I like playing crucible so I may as well play iron banner, not to mention the guns drop after normal games as well, I got a skorris revenge, holders hammer and the fury this week from IB drops

1 ReplyI play it for fun. I have been killed by a lot of guns, not named the thorn. Shotguns, snipers, red death, hawkmoon, the last word, pulse rifles, etc. Get a team of friends have have fun.

I only play solo and matchmade activites. It's the only way I can get etheric light. At least before I could get shards and energies from Dailies. At first it seemed great to be able to get to 34 in one IB. Now it's the only activity that has any useful rewards for me. I missed one due to Arkham Knight and been away for most of this one. Bungie kinda fudged up for the solo player. Really needed matchmaking for 32 POE or Etheric Light from your first 28 POE each week or something.

1 ReplyHe sells 2 pieces of armour 2 pieces of Etheric light So BOOM you're half way to level 34 Then, unique shaders and class items, and emblems which are meh, but they're ok. The weapons are ok aswell, but don't require vanguard/faction marks.

It's for people that don't have a ton of friends and need the armor to get to 34. You get light to upgrade the armor, so it's pretty much a one stop shop. I got my 3 characters to 34 by playing in the last 5 IB's so it's been great for me.

It does make no sense, especially the XP factor. I played it when it first came out and realised I was wasting my time, no matter how well you play, if your team loses you still end up with zero points towards your XP for Iron Banner. And only two for a win (unless it has now changed). I prefer normal Crucible, even if your team loses in that, you still get points towards your XP. So, I stopped playing it. To be honest though, I very rarely play PvP as I really do not like PvP in any shape or form.

Iron Banner made more since prior to the DLCs. -level difference. Most high level people were 28,29 & 30. But still had people lower than that trying so they could upgrade their gear. -gear light level. The gear light level was equal to VoG and Exotic which meant those Forever 29's could now get that missing piece to reach 30 -re-roll weapons. Before HoW, only way to get a weapon setup you liked. Back than Motes of Light weren't as common a drop as they are nowadays. Plus, you could only re-roll once a month. Nowadays it's no different than regular crucible control. Everyone is same level using the same weapons. The gear sold is equal to regular vendor gear and all legendary weapons can be re-rolled daily.

I originally started doing it because...well because PoE got old quick and I needed something to keep me entertained. It was also a time when I needed etheric light to ascend all my gear. I was hoping to get a sniper shotty like every other scrub in the crucible, but I can't seem to get felwinter to drop and can't get one of my five Matadors to get rangefinder and shot package. I started using Prerun's Fire and been having fun when people say "was that a fusion rifle that you just nuked that guy with from this far away" "why yes, yes it was" lol. Rangefinder and unflinching on Prerun's is nice.

For me, it is a challenge to get better in crucible. I enjoy it, most of the time!
