is bungie going to deal with the netcode?

i have enjoyed playing this game up untill recently. i love the mechanics and gameplay and keep coming back for crucible endlessly. but recently i cant find a match that dont have at least 1 player with a red bar... this is getting more and more of an issue when more " competitive" gametypes are introduced. lag switching in ToO is a gigantic issue. laggers in IB are plain annoying and causing impossible kill trading and kill trading in general is an issue that's plaguing this game since the start, it is possible sometimes but most of the trading are caused due to crappy netcode. to make things clear, im not the only one who suffer these issues, i play on X1, i have a decent network connection, my ping bar is usually Full Green, and my nat type is Open. so i dont know what is it anymore, but its starting to be unbearable.

 • There is way more involved than just the networking code within the game. Other elements that effect game connectivity are the console, players local network equipment, players ISP, Tier one gateway, any big content providers (MS, Google, Amazon, ect.) in the area hitting the same teir one gateway (big content pays for and gets preferential treatment), DDOS attacks have far reaching effects beyond the target, and the big one in Destiny's case is all the partners Bungie uses that also have all these problems. Bungie's architecture for Destiny is actually a very good one, just not with todays Internet and certainly not for the majority of ISPs available in the US. BTW, catching a true lag switcher is easy as the console has the ability to determine if the Ethernet connection is disconnected. They just have to make use of it. What most people call lag switching is probably just the game packets getting stuffed into some gateway switch buffers to die. Just because you have a great connection to the game host when the match starts (when the game host is chosen) does not mean it is going to stay that way and in reality it almost never will for most people since ISPs love to over-provision their networks. They let pings go through so it looks like there is a good connection, but try a tool like mtr with your max MTU and you will see just how bad things can get.
