each subclass's use in trials

Hello guardians of the destiny universe, I was thinking alot about the subclasses in destiny and what their purpose is in trials of osiris. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion. I have a warlock, titan, and hunter at level 34 with every subclass maxed, and on top of that I have reached flawless with all three of them. Without further ado, let's get into it. Titan, striker: The striker is used for pretty much one thing: a super counterer. With fist of havoc you can destroy self reviving warlocks, bladedancers, bubbles, and with some luck, even golden guns. You can always try to get two or three kills with fist of havoc, but you need to get close to the enemy which will pretty much always will guarantee your death. The lightning grenade is always usefull when you know how to use it and if you throw your flash bang grenade right, it can be devastating for the opposing team. but appart from that, the striker hasn't got much else going for it. When playing with the striker you need to know your role. If you kill a sunsinger and you know he has his super, try to stand nearby to him. When he uses his self revive you can FOH him without giving him a chance to even move. Recommended exotics: -Armamentarium: Having two grenades is always useful. -Peregrine greaves: If you know how to use shoulder charge, these greaves are amazing. With the added damage you'll be able to one-hit bladedancers and even sunsingers using their self revive. -Crest of alpha lupi: Generating more orbs for your teammates and reviving them faster is amazing. Titan, defender: The defender is in my opinion the least valuable subclass in trials. The bubble can be used to revive someone in a pinch, or it can cover you and your teammates when you are capturing the objective. But it is countered by EVERY other super in the game. If anything it only makes it easier for the enemy team to kill you with a single super because you are all three in a tight space. The magnetic grenade is nice, but hunters and warlocks also have acces to sticky grenades, so it doesn't really stand out. Titan melee has such a short range that you won't really get kills with it anyway, so the overshield won't be used very much. Using a shotgun is your best option so that when an enemy goes into your bubble, you can make quick work of them. The bubble is really usefull for one thing though, it is an easy orb of light generator. With the right perk setup and crest of alpha lupi, you can get more than 6 orbs per bubble, which will be very benificial for your teammates. Recommended exotics: -Helm of saint-14: Blinding your enemy when they entre the bubble can be life saving. -Crest of alpha lupi: Extra orbs is especialy nice for this subclass, and the benefit of reviving your teammates faster is always useful. Hunter, gunslinger: The gunslinger is one of the best classes to have in trials, mainly because of the super. Golden gun is already one of the best PVP supers out there. In trials it is even more useful because you only have to kill three targets, which are usually close to each other. The tripmine grenade is very good and the throwing knife, eventhough it takes skill to master, can get you out of sticky situations. You need to use your golden gun wisely though, since if you just run into a small room with three guardians using a shotgun, you'll die regardless of the amount of damage you can dish out. Golden gun can also counter warlocks using radiance, but you need to activate your super while in cover because you can easily be killed you while you're activating it. Recommended exotics: -achlyophage symbiote: Having four shots in your golden gun will give you room to miss a shot. -Crest of alpha lupi: This piece of armor is just ideal for trials, as stated before. Hunter, bladedancer: Although this is a good subclass for PVP, only use it on small, close quarters maps. Bladedancers are countered pretty easily by fist of havoc or even just a sunsinger. When using your super you've got to use your speed to your advantage. Zip around the map, use blink as often as you can, because when you are just running towards a group of guardians they wíll kill you. Razors edge is also a good counter to shotguns and melee attacks, if you know how to use it. The downside of using bladedancer is that you have to get close to your enemy. The grenades of the bladedancer are pretty good though, and the melee is amazing when paired with a shotgun. Bladedancers can go invisible, but don't think they can't see you, skilled guardians will take you down within seconds if you go face to face with them. While you are invisible, you are of the radar, so if you think you are skilled enough, you can go for a flank and get some easy kills. Bladedancers do have something that other classes don't have, and that is maxed speed. With this, and blink, you can get to advantageous sniping points at the start of the round before your enemies can, so keep that in mind. Recommended exotics: -Mask of the third man: It is a solid helmet for sure, making your super last longer. -Lucky raspberry: This will make your arcbolt grenade more deadly, which is always useful. -Crest of alpha lupi: I think you get it now why this piece of armor is so valuable. Warlock, voidwalker: The voidwalker is a solid class for trials. The melee has some nice perks to it, two out of the three grenades are usefull and the super can be devastating. The voidwalker is best used as a heavy ammo counter. While your enemies are waiting for that heavy ammo to spawn, you can just run up to them and kill them all with your nova bomb if you are lucky. Most of the time you'll be able to kill one or two enemies though, but the main bonus is that you can prevent them from getting heavy ammo. It will give your teammates the time to get the heavy ammo, rush to your enemies with rockets while they are still struggling to get that heavy ammo. With shatter you can increase your blast radius by a whole lot. Axion bolt and scatter grenades (with the right exotics) are amazing grenades as well. I wouldn't recommend using a voidwalker on a close range map, as your nova bomb can easily hit a wall or a random lamp hanging from the ceiling. Recommended exotics: -The ram: Eventhough a voidwalker can't reach max armor without using angry magic (it will grant very weak tracking to your nova bomb), it will still save you from two headshots from thorn, and a bunch of other things. Having life steal on every melee hit is also nice. -Voidfang vestements: Getting your grenade when you respawn and making axion bolt even better is always amazing. -Nothing manacles: This will make your scatter grenade a very deadly tool. -Light beyond nemesis: This is basically the crest of alpha lupi in helmet form. So it is, again, really usefull in trials. Warlock, sunsinger: This is by far the most valuable subclass for trials. The melee is the best in the game, having an extremely long range and granting you with an overshield with a melee hit. Sunsingers can counter bladedancing hunters with ease because when a warlock melees them, the bladedancer can't one hit kill the warlock, which will give the warlock time to just blast him in the face with a shotgun. The fusion grenade is always nice, and you can have two of them at once without even using an exotic. Firebolt grenade paired with ignition and viking funeral will damage a guardian so badly that a single body shot with the last word will kill them, even when they were at the end of the huge blast radius. And to top that all of, they have the most usefull super for trials in the game. Being able to revive yourself, get 50% damage reduction, having a one hit melee kill and spamming your very effective grenades is border-line overpowered. You won't always succeed in clutching a round with self revive (trust me, I know) but you do have the option to win an otherwise lost round, which by itself is very powerful. Recomended exotics: -Purifier robes: Blinding your enemies while using radiance will surely give you enought time to revive your teammates -The ram: Paired with max armor you'll be able to live things like a sticky bladedancer grenade, shoulder charge, and of course two thorn headshots. -Heart of praxic fire: Although radiance isn't really as great as it is purely because you can spam grenades, this armor piece is always useful to have. -Voidfang vestments: Eventhough this armor piece was designed for the voidwalker, the fact that you spawn with full grenade energy also works on sunsinger, even when you have two grenades. -Light beyond nemesis: This is especially useful for the sunsinger as when you use radiance, you generally want to revive your teammates, and this helmet will make reviving alot faster. As a whole I would list the classes in this order: -3 Titan -2 Hunter -1 Warlock This won't mean that a titan is useless in trials though. I have reached flawless many times with my titan, more so than with my hunter. This also won't mean that if you are using a warlock you'll be unbeatable. It all comes down to individual skill, and communication as a team. If you have any comments, I'll be reading all of them Thanks for reading this article

  • I find having my striker and then my two friends both as hunters is the best, because I can shutdown any super and lock down the map with Two lightning grenades, and they both can use their supers to just kill the other team
