Constructive Feedback for Bungie part 2

Mainly the ram This is a continuation of a post I'm hoping Bungie reads. This one will cover balance. Had to make two posts because of character limit. Alright now onto actual balance. As I stated before the weapon balance patch notes are incredible and I'm excited for the changes (Still impressive that apparently there is no internal testing for these sorts of things and it took a year of the game being out to fix any of this). But here is what isn't being addressed, except for blink I guess. Class perk balance and exotic balance. I don't have a single doubt in my mind that whoever makes the decisions for destiny plays a warlock and absolutely wants warlocks to be better than other classes. Now that sounds like a whiny statement or a joke but I'm about to spend like an hour justifying it and I want to put a disclaimer here that if you disagree with this because you're really good at pvp despite being at a disadvantage does not make the pvp well designed or fun. Good for you that you can enjoy something, that doesn't have anything to do with this argument. If you disagree with my positions on balance and say they don't apply to you and still do well that doesn't mean the problems don't exist you're just good at this game so bravo to you. Now on to the main point I'm just going to get this out of the way. Here is the video that makes me never want to play/support destiny ever again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OA1EUrzGyKI Please watch this video and take it all in. A shoulder charge? The sticky grenades from the hunter and the titan(watch part 2)? But conveniently not the warlock grenade. This is without a doubt the most bias and pathetic game design I have ever seen. Note that none of the other classes have access to this exotic. If you play warlock and have this exotic you are at a clear advantage over every one his isn't. And it should be noted this is not the only perk on the exotic. This is just an added on bonus to another perk. It's as if someone looked at the instant kill pvp meta we have in the crucible and said “Man, that sure is annoying and I don't want that to happen to me.” So they made a piece of gear that did that. And this isn't the only way warlocks have an advantage over other classes. I would invite you to just compare the exotics added in the house of wolves. There is a hunter exotic that lets you jump a third time..... and there's an exotic for warlocks that lets your survive more than anyone has ever been able to survive in the past. So I could go on and on about the ram specifically or the nature of balance but I want to keep this short. So what I will do is provide other examples of warlocks being superior. Look at force barrier vs. scorch shield. Force barrier requires you to kill an enemy to activate the shield and in the crucible to do so means you have already defeated the enemy in front of you making the shield useless. Where as scorch shield only requires you to hit the enemy to then acquire a shield that makes them harder to kill essentially assuring their victory. I also don't have exact data on this but I believe it is common knowledge that the titans have the worst melee in terms of range and the warlocks have the best in terms of range so add into that confrontation that the warlocks have the easiest time administering their melee attack successfully. Another phenomenal example of imbalance is the warlock perk that allows warlocks to carry two of the same grenade. Again another thing that makes me want to drop this game because of how idiotic it is because to have the EXACT same perk titans need to equip an exotic piece of armor. Where warlocks can just have this perk whenever they want to. And lastly I think everyone knows that the nova bomb is just a more effective ranged fist of havoc. I also want to take a moment to say that the classes don't have to be equal for example each class excels at a different stat, titans have armor, warlocks recovery, and hunters agility. Now the funny thing is even this is somewhat unbalanced because you have to look how these stats actually impact gameplay. I would recommend datto's video on the subject. But basically recovery is actually the stat that provides the biggest difference the more you have of the stat (Gee, go figure). But even that said it's not inherently unbalanced because each class does excel at their own stat. But I don't think it's very hard to see here that with these direct comparisons one class is completely superior to the other. I also don't really have a solution for this where I do in a lot of my feedback. But I want it to be known in the community that this game design is really unbalanced and favors one class and it's really terrible game design. And if there is some sort of effort to rework blink then there can be some sort of work to rebalance classes. I honestly find some of this slightly forgivable when I look at the game overall but the ram is just the worst example of destiny balance in the entire game. And again I don't want this to come off as “nerf warlocks because they kill me” I kill warlocks all day long but they're just better than the other classes in every way and I like games to be balanced and fun and balancing warlocks would make the crucible more fun. If I could tangent here for a second I find destiny's main flaw to be that it expects you to replay content over and over again for a reward in pve but there aren't a huge variety of strikes and raids. This honestly wouldn't be a massive issue for me where I felt like I'm getting robbed of my money if destiny pvp was at all fun. But the spawns are bad the weapons have been unbalanced for what's going to be 8 months of pure garbage and there is some inherent class favoritism. The reason I've typed all this out is because despite this game's seemingly endless shortcomings it's still fun to play. And that is what should be the best part about a game. And I also cut Bungie a lot of slack because mmo's are probably the hardest games to make and they're also building this on a new engine. The main problem with any of that sympathy is that you guys are putting the money before the game design. You guys went for a season pass which ended up not having a lot of value. Look at the dark below and all the economy mistakes, look at the house of wolves not making any of the new gear actually good because our old gear is better. Not to mention a complete lack of apology for fairly valid complains and have deej completely miss the point with the weekly updates. And, hey, The Taken King looks cool but I have to ask why the new subclasses weren't in the game to begin with? I'm not saying it's a conspiracy but it's a pretty great and convenient selling point. Lastly, man, I'm glad the weekly update didn't have anything that invalidated my writing this huge thing. But I do want to mention that what makes weekly updates exciting for me nowadays are things like weapon patch notes. And I want that to sink in. The best news I get about this game is when you fix how bad parts of it are. I don't want to Bungie to fail but I want them to get knocked down a peg so they have to work harder to keep this fanbase.
