If the cabal were the alien force that the nine made a pact with and they are helping each other, and the cabal are fighting the taken the nine would know a lot about the taken, thus knowing about oryx. The only other person knowing as much about oryx would be Osiris and he has been dead for years.

Alright that's it. My final thought on The Nine is they are nine different beings. In the grimoire it gives nine different explanations as to what the nine are, such as them being The first born Awoken and etc. These explanations could be two things: that the Nine are all of these explanations, or each one of them has a different description. If you've played the HoW story, you may remember Petra Venj sounding like she revered the Nine, so they are most likely very powerful. "...But how would they get it past... Them?" She probably has not had any experiences with the Nine since nobody has, but since she is basically the Agent of the Queen, could she have heard the Queen speaking of the Nine like they were more powerful than her? The Queen who used her army to capture numerous VIP's in the PoE like a Gate Lord who has the deadly Detainment Field, a Valus, a Prime Servitor, A Primce of the Hive, a raging Ogre, and the Kell who commands its own Fallen House and tried to take over all other Houses? Not to mention the Nine are able to send Xur to the tower with multiple exotics every week. But that raises a question. If the Nine are so powerful, then why bring rare and powerful equipment to the Guardians? Do they intend to use an army of Guardians to fight off a threat that is more powerful than the Nine? Could that threat be Oryx or something else? If The Queen called on the Guardians probably because they were stronger than her army, and if the Nine are calling on the Guardians because they are stronger than the Nine, then just how strong are the Guardians? And if the Ghosts are pieces of the Traveler that made you into a guardian by infusing you with Light, and the Traveler is just an agent of the Light, how strong is the Light? We know that it can be shared among Guardians to revive one and you can even be revived from decades of being dead just by sending a little ghost to send a shock of Light through ones body, whether you are human, awoken, or even a machine! There also doesn't seem to be an end to how much Light there is, but the same is probably for the Darkness too, which is why the Traveler lost its battle against the Darkness, and was severely injured. It would be like Xur trying to take on an army of Guardians and the revive time was one second. Taking advantage of the Light, the Traveler probably wanted revenge on the Darkness so it sent the Ghosts to revive capable Guardians, not knowing that the Darkness was actually un-killable. I just think that the Nine are either going to be in the story line of TTK, if the Queen asks something to do with them, or if you ever go to Jupiter because if I remember correctly that's where the Jovians and the Nine are.

It has to be Toland. We've never heard Toland's voice and the lore suggests he's still alive. Not to mention, the Hive is sorta his thing. If anyone was to be knowledgeable about Oryx, it would be Toland.
