• What makes this worse was that one of the last things we heard from him was how sorry he was for disappointing people during this year's E3...

      • Jesus -blam!-ing christ. Rest in piece Iwata. 55 is too young. What an absolute legend. It's difficult to type this with tears. The man brought joy to millions. He will be missed :(

      • Even when though he's was ill this past year he kept carrying Nintendo. Iwata had been running Nintendo for 13 years. Before that was Yamauchi. Iwata's successor will have only been the third man to run Nintendo since becoming a video game company.

Very sad to hear that he had passed away. He may not have always made the right decisions while he was president of Nintendo but he had a unique vision for what games and consoles can be and took chances when others wouldn't. An end of an era :'(

      • All we had to do was understand please, and we didn't. I love you Iwata, I hope the new acting president is a programmer and gamer like you were and not a corporate suit looking to run Nintendo into the ground. You know Iwata was a driving force behind optimizing the first two gens of Pokemon in time, sitting down and just -blam!-ing hammering out the handiwork coding himself when it wasn't going fast enough? Peace bro. http://vocaroo.com/i/s1leEzNcf9TL

        • I dislike most of Nintendo's games, but they created some legendary ones and made gaming a possibility. With all of the hate the Wii U has gotten because of inferiority, you have to respect Nintendo for starting it all.

This is so sad. My friend informed me earlier today on Xbox. I didn't pay much attention to it. Now, in my room I remember he told me that he passed away. I looked it up and this guy has been with the company since 2002. I remember when I first got my DS Lite and Pokémon Pearl and New Super Mario Bros were the only things I played. I played NSMB often with my cousins. We would have so much fun. My childhood included my DS Lite. As the years progressed I stopped playing my DS and got into Xbox. I didn't care about Nintendo as much anymore. Every now and then I got nostalgia. Learning about Iwata's passing is extremely sad. My childhood would have been dull without him and Nintendo. Rest in Peace, Satoru Iwata. May you find peace in the next chapter. Thank you for all those moments in my childhood. I wish I could travel back in time to revisit them.

        • No one will ever run a company like him. Nor will they ever plan like him. Nintendo won't truly see/feel his loss for another few years when the games he had planned for us stop. Rest now Mr. Iwata. You've long deserved it. Thank you.

        • Mr.Iwata is one of the greatest in the gaming industry, he put everything he had into Nintendo for us. I hope he never forgotten. I say is because even though he is no longer with us we can look back at his legacy in the industry to see all that he has done for us.
