Titan Story Chp. 6: Hostiles detected.

Despite losing Laurentine after the first five seconds of entering the jungle, me and Angelica made great progress... in... a way.... After she saw a centipede, an ether spider, and heard creepy noises in the background; she refused to leave my side and persisted to cling to my left arm like a parasite. She looked rather terrified as she constantly scanned the trees around us for something. She shook as if she was cold and on the brink of fainting. It was really pitiful but... adorable at the same time. Elizabeth hovered by her head, trying to comfort her. "Angelica dear... nothing is going to harm you. We are perfectly safe." Angelica simply nodded and kept scanning the area regardless. Elizabeth kept speaking. "What could possibly hurt you?" Charles popped into existence. "Oh the usual; poisonous insects, snakes, and the like." Angelica's grip began to tighten on my arm. Elizabeth glared at the now empty spot where my ghost used to be. She sighed. "Is he always this... arrogant?" "All the time." I replied. Elizabeth sighed again and disappeared. I watched Angelica out of the corner of my eye for a little while longer. Her fear was definitely increasing and she was moving a bit sluggish now that we were surrounded by thicker roots. The sun was high in the sky but it seemed like a bright evening, due to the trees blocking the light. Even so, there was a radiance about Angelica, a certain glow that shone in any light. It felt warm and calming like I've never felt... I shook the idea out of my head. Stupid thoughts... I need to focus on the mission at hand. As I thought that, Angelica tripped and started to fall. She didn't get very far due to the tight grip on one arm and me wrapping my other arm around her. Which lead us being face to face. Alone. In the jungle. In her radiance... She blinked and looked at me. A half smile crossed her lips."Th... thank you..." She stammered and she looked back down at her feet. I couldn't help but stare at her for a while longer before letting her go. She straighten herself and brushed off her dress, the first time she even considered letting me go. Her fear seemed to dim a bit. Which brought out more warm from her. "I'm losing my mind..." I thought to myself. "Ok you need to focus... focus... fo...." Angelica's scream pierced my thoughts as she sprang on me like a frightened child, almost toppling me over. I looked around frantically to find Laurentine halfway up a tree. From this angle, you could see a bright sea green set of eyes staring at us in panic under his hood. He was the first to speak. "What... what was that for!?.." Angelica looked up at him. "You scared me! You... you..." "I just tapped you on the shoulder!..." "You could have said Hi or something!!!" "But I found a place to camp..." "That doesn't mean you can scare the light out of me!!" Laurentine flinched a bit and looked away. "Sorry..." He said quietly as he climbed down. He stood a bit away from us in silent regard. I couldn't see his eyes anymore which gave him the ominous look as before. I sighed. "Ok, Laurentine. please show us the way." He nodded and walked past the folly of trees. I followed with Angelica in tow. After a brief walk, we ended up in a small open area with a large opening under a tree for shelter. Laurentine hopped up on a root. "It seems clear... no wildlife is living here or nests." Angelica still refused to let go of my now bruised arm. "It's it safe?..." I looked around the site. "It's defendable, aside from no water or food source, it's a good place to camp. Nice work buddy." His head perked slightly at that. "Thanks." He then started hacking up wood to make a small fire for later. I moved Angelica to a root and made her sit down. She was reluctant at first but let go as soon as she saw the bruising she caused. Her eyes dropped and she started at the ground. This gave my heart a small pang. I would have comforted her but Elizabeth appeared and proceeded to do that. I sighed and helped Laurentine spruce up the place for later. The day slowly went by as I perused the contents of the packet. Standard orders. Team Deathmatch. Kill as many enemy teams as possible. Revivablility is enabled. Fitting orders from the Crucible rep. I stowed the packet in its case. I glanced at the other two members. Laurentine was watching the horizon in a tall branch, literally fading in and out of existence. Angelica was still were I last left her, staring at the ground, quiet, and looking scared and worried. I wanted to talk to her but Laurentine made a soft whistle. I glanced up at him. He pointed westward and held up three fingers. I nodded and rushed to Angelica. "Hostiles coming in. Let's avoid confrontation until we come up with a plan." She stared at me and started to panic a bit. "Bu.... but we... just got here and..." I covered her mouth and looked at her. "Get under the roots and keep it quiet." She locked up for a second, then nodded. We both moved there as Laurentine moved to a more hidden perch. I brought up Charles. "Pull up my armor." He simply grunted and disappeared. Soon my body flashed in white particles as the armor appeared along with my scout rifle in hand and shotgun at my side. My HUD flashed red on the motion tracker. I muttered in my coms. "Prepare for confrontation but do not engage unless provoked. We will give them the drop." Angelica's armor formed over her as her helmet swallowed her scared look away. This is it... our first mission as a team. I relaxed myself as the enemy came into view. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/134900355/0/0 link to chapter five https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/139208073/0/0 link to chapter 7
