Hey everyone, I read on a gaming website in another forum that you can uninstall your expansions and the vendors in the tower will have the original gear and weapons. That is all that I read. The author did not provide any proof and I'm curious if anyone has heard of someone trying this. I started playing destiny when TdB was just released and never had the opportunity to get some of the original gear and weapons. Would really love to get my hands on some. As of right now the only confirmed method I know is to run tiger strikes and hope a blue Engram reward turns into a legendary gear piece.
If anyone knows anything about the expansion uninstall method, please let me know. Thanks

No, I have no dlc other than TDB on ps4 and its still the HoW gear
-
You'll waste an hour or 2, I've tried this with my own account, I even created a new profile and a new account to try this, i went through created a first character on the new account and got to the tower excited, but then i was crushed to find it did not work.
-
I have tried this it is a complete lie, it updates with the compatibility packs so no matter what you do you cannot play unless its up to date, and if you dont have dlc's it will still Sell House of wolves gear.
-
If you don't have Vanilla gear, you're not getting Vanilla gear. Period... People are saying you can play Tiger Strikes, receive a blue engram drop, and if you're lucky enough, you could potentially get Vanilla gear, or a Shadowprice.. This is 100% bullshit. If you don't believe me, go grind your little heart out :D (Bump for the noobs. They're innocent.)
-
This game Doesn't work like that. But sure you can try it if you want. Lol
-
Not true. The actual game itself is updated when an expansion is released and you are forced to download the update in order to play. The update introduces the new weapons and sweeps out the old weapons.
-
Won't work. Vendors from the Tower are on Destiny servers, not the expansion. There's no way to make the Destiny servers go back in time and have vendors sell old stuff.
-
Interesting idea....
-
You look cute today
-
It's truth. Uninstall your expansions and then delete system_32 so that your computer will run faster.

how gullible can the mind of a casual be….
-
They game reads that you have the license for the expansions. Also, the expansions arent files, they are pre patch updated that went out two weeks before the DLC actually activated, they contain files that are necessary for Destiny to work.
-
Just go grind Tiger strikes.
-
Whatever site you read that on needs to never be referenced again. Unless you like smoke pouring out of your ass, then by all means, continue to reference it.
-
No, vendors are managed server side, nothing will change
-
If you play Tiger strikes you can get Vanilla gear as rewards at the end by all accounts, not from engrams though just straight drops
-
I recently updated consoles, and before re-downloading the expansions I checked the vendors. No change.
-
Edited by PrimaryNotFound: 7/8/2015 6:25:49 AMDLC owners and Non-DLC owners see the same items at the vendors. So no.
-
Based on the fact that the vendors change whether you have the DLC or not, I would say no. You won't get any OG gear by uninstalling anything.
-
Certain it wouldn't work. There was a glitch where you could change xurs inventory by changing your date and time settings but you couldn't buy anything because it's server based so even if it did show vanilla gear you wouldn't be able to buy it
-
I would say no, because the vendors gear changes with or without you buying the DLC. I imagine that those weapons will be for sale again in the future.
-
I haven't bought either DLC and the vendor gear still rotated, vanilla gear isn't easily accessible by anyone.
-
I played Destiny on my little bro's 360 when I visited him and iirc he didn't have TDB (this was before HoW), but the vendors still had TDB gear and you could even do the Eris bounties. I was really drunk and high so I hope I'm remembering correctly!
-
You should have locked it, Larry.
-
Never heard of it but I heard you could get vanilla gear from tiger strikes. As painful as it sounds it has no risk involved.
-
Yeah, no. It's a server based game, and the vendor gear is determined by the Bungie servers. You wouldn't be able to start playing without updating, and the updates contain all the new armor, so that you can see people who are using dlc gear wether you have it or not.
