Thank You Bungie!

On this day where you celebrate the community, I'd like to take a moment to thank you, Bungie. As a company, each individual's contributions over the past decade have contributed to thousands of hours of entertainment (via gameplay, story, online matchmaking, and much more) through multiple smash titles that I just couldn't put down. And for that I thank you. I have met numerous lifelong friends on the battlefield that permeate past my online presence. And for that I thank you. While unleashing your creative genius into our homes, you've also provided a venue for your fans to gather together, forming the Seventh Column, to share our thoughts, raves, and rants. And while there have been ups-and-downs over the years, it's our passion for what you do that keeps us coming back. And for that I thank you. To keep this note from getting too emotional, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for hanging in there with us and continually pushing the bar of awesome to new levels. I can't wait to see what the future holds... And for those fellow community members that happened to take the time to read this post, I'd like to encourage you to add your own note of thanks to Bungie below. Let them know how they have enriched your life in any way, like they have mine. Thanks Bungie!

I would like to say Thank You too! I was not here as many of you were during the beginning. I was elsewhere and the population was dwindling as more and more left to find their legend. "Cute." I said. Then I just shrugged and told my friends "They'll be back." "C'mon it's a Bungie game, it'll be an intense albeit short experience and then they'll come back." At this point my only experience with Bungie was (Holy crap you guys made ONI??!!) the first Halo (which I never finished), bits of Halo 2 and 3 that my Halo obsessed roommate was constantly playing and what I considered to be a brilliant opinion piece called "Combat Evolved?" So yeah, exactly. I didn't have a clue what was coming. Then I couldn't play my other game anymore. It wouldn't even let me log in. Later, I was selling a system at my local game store and they offered me a much more generous offer if I would take $110 of it in credit. Well Persona 4 Arena Ultimax had just realeased so - duh. Collector's edition right here please! Now I had $50 left over. I really missed my game and my friends that had all left. Oh what the hell, I'll give it a shot. Until about a week ago, I hadn't played any other games since. Destiny has not left me impressed. I have experienced a world that I know from experiencing it was created because people WANTED it to exist even if only for themselves. A story so subsumed, subtle, colorful, interesting, diverse, and most importantly player involved that as I said I was not impressed, I was awed. Thank you Bungie, enjoy you're special day. In your honor and in honor of Wheaton's law (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THAT INTERVIEW! I LOVED THE "REALITY" CHECK!) I will now go mute 42 trolls.
