Of Shadows and Memories Long Lost (Chapter 4)

CHAPTER IV Back to History Class "People are staring at you, Yolmar." "I noticed." replied the warlock with a tone of irritation. But then again, why wouldn't they? It was odd to see a warlock walking through the Tower with a man slung over his shoulder like a sack. He promised he'd never forget the look on his Vanguard's face as he presented the man like a giant fish, freshly caught. He threw Masrur unto the table, simply because he was exhausted from the weight. The vanguard warlock looked up at him, then back to the body now spread out on his table. The hunter and titan on the other side tried their best not to laugh at the scene, but failed to contain their chuckling. "Yolmar," the warlock spoke suddenly,"what is this? You know we don't have time for drunks, so you'd best have an explanation." "I found him while I was out in the Cracked Forest. Says he doesn't remember who he is, or how he got there." "Then take him to a medical center somewhere. He probably slipped on the snow and banged his head." The warlock began to turn back to his work, when Yolmar grabbed his arm and pulled him in closer. Then Yolmar whispered to him,"Boron, I feel no light inside of him." This shocked the vanguard and he withdrew his arm. "Are you certain?" "You feel it too don't you? It isn't darkness, but it's not light either." A moment of silence stood between the two of them. Boron then walked over to a shelf full of old books, and combed his fingers across them. Reading their titles quietly to himself. His fingers came across a very large book, old and worn. He pulled it from the shelf and gently dusted it off, then handed it to Yolmar. "This is an old history, and it's language has been long forgotten since the Golden Age. However, the Speaker still knows it. Perhaps he can shed some answers to this mystery." "Thank you Boron. I shall have my ghost return it to you later." Boron waved his hand in a non-caring manner, then walked back to the table to resume his business. Yolmar picked Masrur off the table and set him once again upon his right shoulder. "You need to loose some pounds. One could easily mistake you for a titan if they picked you up." He walked out of the room and back into the courtyard, where he stopped at the post master in the center to see if he had received anything. Then Yolmar felt his left shoulder being crushed. "Put. Me. Down. Now." The voice was clear, calm, and very serious. Yolmar turned his head to look at his shoulder and saw a hand clutched around it. His entire shoulder armor was caved in and digging into his circuits. "It hurts." He thought to himself. Slowly he lowered Masrur to the ground. The moment Masrur's feet touched the floor, the warlock spun around and faced him. Then he summoned his void powers into his one good arm and blasted Masrur across the courtyard into the far wall. "Oops." Using his powers on a man with no armor was certain to kill him... or so the warlock believed. When to his surprise Masrur raised his head, and then Yolmar saw it. The look in his eyes. That look which will perfectly communicate without words. 'I am going to kill you.' "Oh crud."
