•
Posted by: sigmapi103 If I was in control of Bungie, unless contracts stated otherwise, I would sell all my updates on the shelves. I know that would increase overhead (as it's far cheaper to have a consumer download rather than go to Gamestop) but its apparent MS is fleecing every single cent out of Bungie.
It's understandable that you feel this isn't the best way to get new content into player's hands. We hear you, man. You really do. But like it or not, things are set in stone. That said, as soon as we are able, we'll keep you up to date on pricing and availability. You won't have to make your decision with half the facts.

 •
Posted by: urk
Posted by: sigmapi103 So let me get this straight: I can buy a $60 video game, which I don't want, so I can play another video game. Or wait until "your" company decides to release as a stand-alone? What doesn't make sense in those two statements?
The Halo Wars LE is $80, so I'm going with number one.
I understand MS sets the regulations on Xbox Live Content and the Halo franchise, but $80 is a complete ripoff. I'd say if 1 month after releasing Halo Wars the Mythic Map pack is available for stand-alone purchase would be acceptable. If I was in control of Bungie, unless contracts stated otherwise, I would sell all my updates on the shelves. I know that would increase overhead (as it's far cheaper to have a consumer download rather than go to Gamestop) but its apparent MS is fleecing every single cent out of Bungie.

They don't decide when the stuff comes out; Microsoft does. Yes, its a sad marketing scheme to bundle the maps with Halo Wars. No, Bungie had nothing to do with it. So, shut up and take it up with Microsoft. Because Bungie shouldn't be wasting their time and energy on you. They have more maps and games to finish and slowly reveal and give out gameplay videos and details... *hint hint* Have a nice day :D

 • This is my take on your question. Isn't Halo Wars the first RTS on the xbox 360? Most people play FPS and RPGs. So Microsoft wants to ensure they rake in some money, and dont fail. And by doing that, it will boost sales, and help convince people into buying Halo Wars. There really isnt that much excitement or heipth in halo wars so I don't blame microsoft. And you dont have to buy halo wars. Be patient

 •
Posted by: urk
Posted by: sigmapi103 I have no reason to "help" Ensemble studios. I have no reason to overpay or purchase products such as "Halo Wars".
Then don't. We've already told you that you can buy the Mythic Map Pack as a standalone.
Q. Can’t I just pick it up on Marketplace as DLC in exchange for my hard-earned monies? A. Sure. You'll just to have to wait a little while. We don’t have any date or pricing information for you yet, but we can say that the Mythic Map Pack, which includes Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox, will ultimately make its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace as a standalone purchase. As soon as we have more details, we'll spill the beans. No need to continue the digital interrogation. So let me get this straight: I can buy a $60 video game, which I don't want, so I can play another video game. Or wait until "your" company decides to release as a stand-alone? What doesn't make sense in those two statements? Oh right, buying one video game to play another video game. So we should wait an undetermined amount of time for a update that has taken already over 10 months. Don't bother. [Edited on 01.20.2009 3:16 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: I iImmune I To make money.. actually other way around. By winning the fans over by what i said in my last post, it pays off. Hey maybe they did plan this out "lets do this and we will make more money". How is that wrong? That only puts them another step ahead of other companies. Look at EA they don't show personality, humor and dont do extra like Bungie. Does that mean they aren't about money. Either Bungie is smarter or just cares for fans, they do make money of course. They actually please the fans which is important and of course make money what's wrong with that? And whats wrong with paying $7 a month, and for an M game, what 17 and up cant afford that and DLC? I know kids play this game, they can find a way, and now adays teenagers 14+ work alot.. Your giving me a stupid argument, Bungie actually goes one step further to please fans. Who F***ing cares if they are secretly trying to make loads of cash they at least go the extra mile for the fans which is what I love about them. So if you dont like throwing your cash away, don't or just get a PS3. Owned.
Are you comparing Bungie to EA? Because one of those studios is the devil and one is inovative. None of the Maps on Halo Wars is Bungie I can assure you. Whether we like it or not M$ owns Halo as we know it. Bungie would make more money if they made it DLC. Bungie is the song writer is it thier fault the producers gave them to a crappy singer. no. Can't wait for Bungie's independent port because they can regulate it fully.

 •
Posted by: I iImmune I Great update, I love the silenced SMG and please find a way to show the pimpchieftans, easter egg or skull to unlock it would be awesome. Also whoever that jackoff who said bungie is all business and money and not product. F*** u. How can you say something like that! Bungie actually shows personality, humor, and loyalty to the fans. They have an active community, they just did a large F***ing playtest, and have podcasts. They obviously care about their gamers, and they aren't necessarily focussed huge sales. They are trying something new, which I disagree when they go way off in the same series. They are just trying to please us, and then they have pimps at sea. If you send a private message to a moderator they might actually reply, they did to me. But you were right about the milking part. Microsoft does make you pay for stupid stuff. I do believe they should charge for DLC because it takes months to make. Where some arcade games should be free and theme packs. Not movies, unless they are like two years old. But thats my opinion. Compared to the PS3, I havent seen as much success as the Xbox has, so Microsoft is obviously doing something right. I think they are helping Ensemble Studios make money, seeing how their aren't much people who have or do play RTS's compared to FPS, and RPG. Think of this as a push. Being negative and putting Bungie down won't help. But if you help by giving feedback on what you like and don't like of what they are doing with ODST it helps. Good Job Bungie, Sincere fan, iImmune
I have no reason to "help" Ensemble studios. I have no reason to overpay or purchase products such as "Halo Wars". Showing personality and humor is only masking the business aspect to please the mindless masses of people who will pay anything. Microsoft and Bungie are surely doing something right. At least they think so. [Edited on 01.19.2009 12:29 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: Malice 514 No one cares about your one-liners. You have no authority other than what you make obvious by your actions. So apparently you have none. You completely misinterpretted what I said and inadvertently proved my point. Re-read my post, I said a "separate project." You showing that it isn't Bungie making the new project ONLY UNDERSCORES EVEN MORE HOW RIDICULOUS IT IS FOR BUNGIE TO INCLUDE HALO 3'S MAPS ON A GAME WHICH IS MADE BY ENSEMBLE STUDIOS, DUMBA$$. What education do you have? If you are going to insult my intelligence then don't be hypocritical while doing it, clown.
I can agree on that first bit, i don't have authority, I just found your post more interesting than the other one-sentence posts and decided to comment on it with my own. As far as the "Get educated" bit goes, I meant no insult to your education, I'm sure you are well-informed, I'm just going on what I could read, which was someone angry at Bungie, for a separate project. I can agree that I assumed too much on that part, but again, just going on what I had, so with that thank you for clearing the air. On another note, it does seem odd to pack another developer's game with content for your own, especially when Halo Wars already looks to be a great RTS game. It seems unnecessary to push people to buy it and help Ensemble. I don't quite think the maps are being packed with the game to help sales. I can't say for 100%, but I'd bet a well-acclaimed developer, such as Ensemble, who created the popular Age of Empires, should have no trouble selling this game. It doesn't look like the game to end all games, but it certainly looks like one of the top RTS games that will have come out on 360, perhaps its controls will help shape the way for future RTS games on platforms. Perhaps, if people had to choose between what to spend their hard-earned money on; maps for a game you already enjoy, versus a game you've never played before, many people might play it safe and stick with something that will be cheaper and perhaps provide more hours of fun. I can't say for certain, but re-reading your post, I can see why you would be angered or outraged at the decision. Rather than make people choose, that choice is being taken from the public. Maybe Bungie will release the maps by themselves soon after. We still have some time between now and then, so we'll just have to see what they say... [Edited on 01.18.2009 10:52 PM PST]
