The Taken King and Pricing: You need to read this.
An article from Eurogamer interviewing The Taken King creative director Luke Smith.
A quick excerpt:
Interviewer: "I'm not going to mention them again. I can't get them." (He's talking about the new emotes)
Luke Smith: "But you can if you buy the Collector's Edition."
Interviewer: "I'm not going to buy the game and the two DLCs all over again."

I wanted to add that after reading the article, it annoyed me how Luke Smith was avoiding answering certain questions. His attitude came off as not really caring about much except trying to make a sale.
I think the interviewer did a fantastic job not holding back questions. And when the response to questions is what we've seen today, it's interesting. Do I really want to give this man $40? At this point, I don't want to spend another dime on Destiny.
In closing, I will continue to play Destiny. I've been playing since the beta. I enjoy playing with the people I've met here. I love the character and weapon customization. There are many aspects of the game I enjoy, and yes, some of it can get repetitious. I have the game and both expansions, but I have no plans to buy The Taken King or anything else unless something changes price-wise, as well as attitude-wise from Bungie.
However, I think that if things continue the way they are, I might eventually leave like many others. I've tried to be supportive of Bungie and Destiny, even after so many ups and downs (Locked content discussions and so forth), and this is my first real experience with Bungie. It would be a shame after all of the hours and money invested, but if this is the way they plan to treat us, then there's really no point.
For anyone interested, someone has started a petition on Change.org regarding the pricing issue and fairness for all players. Feel free to sign it and share it with others.

There will always be a player base for this game, due to this game being a decent game. The content you are working on releasing this September is beyond imperative for the future of this game and your future in the gaming industry. You are losing recognition and status that hard work and love that went into designing the amazing trilogy of Halo, which made every person who pined for this game. This interview, your "DLC" content which we now know was already on the disc, your entire actions show you care nothing about the project other than the money it brings in. There so many examples from Capcom to Sega in regards to failures I could provide. You are making a blunder on the scale of Microsoft's announcement for the Xbox 1 at the E3 announcement. If you wish your game to continue to be a success, if you wish to be more than lip servicing charlatan, carpetbagger stuffing their pockets and running for the door. Take a step back and look at what you are doing before making your next announcement to the gaming community. It is not impossible to provide new emotes to individuals without making them buy the same content again. We know you are lying. Stop treating us as morons. I implore you Bungie, give us the Destiny we were sold, not sad...money driven freemium you've created.

I honestly don't even think TTK is worth 40 dollars. . 40 dollars is only a short amount away from what is considered a "full game" I do not believe TTK will be any different then the previous DLC besides the new subclasses. Everyone will most likely hit the new level cap within several hours of release as well as completing the "new" story. While many people seem to be against this idea, I hope Bungie lowers the price. Then again, there so many people who are irresponsible with money, or actually are wealthy enough to fork over 40 dollars, that will blindly support Bungie. If everyone supports a 40 dollar dlc, who knows how much the next DLC will cost. As for me, I will sit here and hope it gets cheaper. I will fork over that 40 to a game thats worth it.

I for one have finally reached the fed up point. Lack of content, lack of content, lack of content. You bring us the missing content and not only slap a glaringly large price tag (especially with the accumulative cost of the first 2 "expansions") but you publicly insult the fan base who has trucked onwards despite all of the above. Starting to feel like I'm in an abusive relationship here Bungie.........

What made me upset is that he said, "We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn." This to me implies further content that might have been included in the game from launch, and may have been removed with the majority of the story from launch date. Just shows how the game has been chopped and resold in DLC.

Also you do not understand the question...why dont you have an option for people that have the game to spend $60 USD on the taken king dlc and collectors items(emotes, exotic class, gear, strange coin, etc)? Its not that hard...people will give you $60 USD for the taken king and collectors items and you wont ship The destiny disc, dark below, or house of wolves. I thought the creative director would be smarter than a 5th grader? i was wrong. shame on me.

I'm not sure I can say anything that hasn't already been said, but I feel like dirt. I feel like I've pumped hundreds of hours into a game that has already treated me like a second rate citizen, only to discover it's much worse than that. You actually think you have free unrestricted access to my money and that I'm just gonna pay you whatever you want for your shoveled together micromanaged different than promised polished piece of shit?
