Bad news for our favorite guns. :(

http://www.polygon.com/2015/6/18/8803071/destiny-taken-king-impressions-hands-on-e3-2015 Would it be ok if you couldn't level up fatebringer and your favorite year one legendaries and exotics passed 365? Would it prevent you from purchasing future dlc? Maybe I took it out of context but deej says at one point when asked about leveling up our current guns to the new damage cap that "ten years with one gun is boring to us". Anyone care to share their opinions what this means to them and whether or not it will impact your decision making about purchasing the taken king? Updated: good talking to you fine people. Hope we get our answers sooner rather than later.

From an article several months ago.... The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete," DeeJ writes. "Since the reveal, we've read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected." You may or may not want to be playing with your Fatebringer for 10 years.....but we each should be able to make that choice. If the new weapons are better, most of us will gladly move on....but if they are HoW quality....we will be clamoring for our old reliable gear. Either way....I'm in.

    • This is still Destiny one when TTK drops? All gear should be relevant until destiny two Destiny two gear should be relevant until destiny three And so on.

      • It will be sad to turn your favorite weapons into trophies, but it's good for the game.

        • They should keep all guns, add new whenever they want. Gives all a bigger selection without running into everyone with the same guns.

          • Well it would probably be like how it was when the dark below came out. We all loved our VOG weapons and armor but the new stuff out classed it. For example fang vs vision the fang did 331 the vision did 300. You were inclined to use the fang over the vision only because of damage statistics. Aside from base damage the better weapon truly was the vision. Now that we can ascend our VoG weapons they are still dominant. Nothing can out class (pve) VOG weapons. Comparing Crota end and house of wolves weapons there is maybe 1 or 2 weapons that are even considerable to use vs a vog weapon. So the only way they will get us to stop using vog weapons is to force us via dmg amounts they will make the new weapons say 430 (I don't know I'm just using this as an example ) and we won't be able to ascend year one guns past 365 essentially forcing us to drop our good vog weapons for crap triple tap and airborn perk weapons.

            • Most of the old guns have better perks than the new ones. They are doing this to balance weapons because now they know which perks should go on what weapons. They want to make our old guns worthless so we delete them. This is another reason. Why they are not giving us vault space. It's a damn shame what they intend to do and many won't go along for the ride.

            • I understand how they said they can't make anything better than whats in the game now. Its their fault for putting all their aces on the table in vanilla destiny. But the least they can do is make comparable weapons to whats in the game. No one would complain if there was a scout rifle that was similar to the fatebringer, or an autorifle that was similar to the icebreaker/invective. They have so much they can still do in this game... but they refuse to acknowledge the obvious, and will press the reset button so we cannot keep our weapons. I personally don't have any guns I really want to take with me other than exotics, but unless they release another full auto high ROF low impact elemental pulse rifle i'll be very disappointed.

              • Eh....I don't care anymore. I haven't been able to play for a couple of months due to work, & I've decided that it's pointless to try & catch up. I mean why bother going for house of wolves stuff when it looks like its all going to be obsolete soon anyway.

              • People are talking about bosses being less bullet sponge for TTK. This means more mechanics and fight learning; I'm not sure if it means we actually need more powerful weapons or if our old stuff will just be left to collect dust, but I do believe Bungie is trying to make the game less about nuking the biggest of the bad guys and more about moving, thinking, and playing as a team. ...but even with all that moving, thinking, and playing, I'm still shooting Oryx in his stupid face with my Gjallarhorn. All three of them.

              • Legendaries from Year 1 are 100% getting left behind. Exotics, I'm not sure of. If they don't add exotic ascending, there's gonna be a lot of pissed off Xbox players. Remember, PS Exclusives come to us Sept. 15 and they either have to A) Ascend all exotics and pretty much void any excitement for new exotics B) Take Hawkmoon, Monte Carlo and 4th Horseman and turn them into Year 2 exotics.

              • I can see them upping the damage cap to closer to 500 with only the exotics being able to ascend and no legendaries. I honestly expect this to happen with the new dlc. Preparing for it.

              • Every cooperative RPG that has ever existed has cycled out weapons eventually. It's amazing that we have kept them this long. If they made the baseline damage values low enough to facilitate a 10 year progression, weapons would feel weak. The inherent weakness of the low damage values would be the only way to introduce weapons that could top the older weapons. This would be an ignorant, bad game design, as weapons would feel progressively weak(or we would simply never get new weapons at all). Instead, Bungie has adopted a seasonal approach to weaponry and armor, which has allowed us to keep items for a longer period than any other Coop RPG to date. Having weapons like Ghorn, vision, and Blackhammer level up to future damage values would make it impossible for there to be better and more exciting weapons without completely removing all challenge from the game. I understand your love and attachment to theses weapons, but the truth is, we need to move forward at some point. I find it fascinating that this community constantly expects new content, but refuses to accept the conditions that will make it possible. Remember kids, you can WANT things that are simply not the best thing for you. Think about it...

                    • Notjust guns!! Armor as well! I want a natural progression to evolve my Gaurdians not a forced one, otherwise what is the point! Waste of my time and waste of money, if it's a forced one in year two. I thought this game was about collecting and building your own Gaurdians unique to you!?

                    • Here is my thoughts on why I think we will be able to ascend current gear in TTK and also will be getting more vault space. First. Why would damage reduction on specific weapons like the Gjallahorn be necessary if they didn't expect us to use it/them moving forward. It also makes me feel that the changes coming in patch 2.0, which drops when TTK drops, when they have stated that there will be more weapons in TTK than in vanilla, would indicate we will need the room to store all this new gear as well as old gear. Honestly, and not saying it's impossible, but I highly doubt at this point, seeing how vault space has literally been the biggest suggestion for Destiny, that Bungie would be so blind to not include it in TTK.
