Angry. Exposure. Arc Burn. All three activated at the same time in that fight. Oh the horror.

A story about Randal in the Prison of Elders: The airlock door hissed as it sealed us in the main chamber. Brandt, the titan, hurriedly activated his Ward of Dawn, shielding Tris, the hunter. Her wound was deep, possibly fatal. The Blessing was all that kept her from succumbing to the gash in her chest. Her ghost was damaged, but seemed overall functional. Brandt held the Ward while I attempted a rudimentary field dressing. Brandt's shield faltered, and Tris' pain returned. "I . . . shouldn't have contested Kaliks." Tris hissed through her teeth. Neither Brandt nor I responded, our hands busily applying aid. Brandt's eyes's shifted, confirming both that he agreed with Tris, and that he was ashamed for doing so. "That doesn't matter now." I assured Tris. "We made it out, and the simple fact is, without you, we wouldn't have. If your ghost holds out, we need to get you to the Vestian Outpost. We can carry out Skolas' trial and sentence another time." Tris bolted upright, grasping my arm in pain. "We aren't giving up now." She urged through gritted teeth. "You know Variks will not allow us another chance at this. You know what I had to do to convince him we were the right team to fulfill his Judgment." She wasn't wrong, the process for selecting a fireteam to carry out Skolas' trial had taken months, far longer than anyone had expected, and we had emerged on top. There would be no second chances; we would complete the task, or Variks would move on to those he should have chosen the first time. "Gin and I will carry out Skolas' trial." Brandt stated plainly. "You get to the Outpost and we'll come for you when we finish." Tris just shook her head. "I'll be fine, I am already feeling stronger." Tris struggled to her feet. I had my reservations, but my mind returned to multiple instances when I had written Tris off as dead and gone, only to have her come out of the abyss to save me. Brandt's posture told me he was recalling similar happeneings. "Let's finish this." Tris said, making her way toward the airlock. Red emergency lights flashed above us and sirens blared. We each instinctively readied our weapons, and searched for the threat. "Is this . . . part of it?" Brandt shouted above the siren's blast. I shrugged in response. "GUARDIANS . . . " Variks' voice called over the comm system. " . . . .SKOLAS . . . INTER . . . WE HAVE A BREACH . . ." The broken, crackling comms confirmed what we had been assured was an impossibility: the Fallen had come to break Skolas out of the Prison of Elders. "Variks." I called out. "VARIKS, WHAT'S GOING ON?" The sirens continued to blare. Tris, Brandt and I instantly rushed down the tunnel toward Skolas' chamber. We were not going to let Skolas escape. The door had lost power and wouldn't budge. Brandt switched to Striker and shoulder charged the door. The mounts buckled and the door crashed inward. We watched as a skiff sped away, leaving a sole major vandal behind. "Don't kill him. We need him alive to track Skolas." I said to the others as we rushed toward the lone target. The vandall faced away from us, watching as his strike team abandoned him. I almost felt pity for him as our team closed the gap between us and him. Tris, though injured reached the enemy first. She struck the vandal with a charged arc blade. The vandal struck, sending Tris plummeting across the chamber and smashing into the outer wall. She slid to a halt and lay motionless. Brandt immediately activated his Fist of Havok, seeking to end the fight. For a moment, I hesitated, still hoping we could keep the enemy alive and probe for information. Brandt slammed the vandal causing an electrical storm. My eyes strained as I peered through the intereference to see if the vandal had survived the attack. The vandal's extra arms had Brandt by the throat. His lower set of arms reached into the air next to Brandt and snatched his ghost out of the nothingness. My heart sank as I heard the metallic crunch of Brandt's ghost and saw his light extinguish. Brandt continued to struggle against the vandal's grip, but even with his enhanced strength, he was like a moth trying to budge a skyscraper. "Go" Brandt called out to me. "Get Tris and RUN!" The Vandal crushed Brandt's helmet and hurdled him over the edge into the void of the Reef. I backed away. Shock overcame me and my movements were sluggish. In an instant, the vandal rushed me and slashed me with his shock blade. My shield instantly faltered. I angrily struggled against the beast as he again reached toward my ghost. "NO!" I shouted as I mounted Gjallarhorn. I knew the blast would kill us both but I alone would return. I pulled the trigger and felt the enormous condensed heat of the explosion engulf me. All went dark as I entered the all-too-familiar void. Out-of-body, I searched the area where my ghost hovered to find the corpse of the enemy. As the smoke cleared, I watched in horror as the vandal slowly plodded toward Tris' motionless form. I drew on that same heat which had destroyed my body to call it from the void. Flames erupted around me as I was born again in fire. I hurdled an endless barrage of fusion grenades at the vandal, hoping to at least slow him. The grenades exploded again and again, but the target was unphased. The vandal stooped over Tris and slammed his shock blade into her chest. Her ghost immediately appeared and he crushed it between powerful hands. The Vandal turned back to me, and began a slow, inevitable approach. As he neared, my comm flicked back on. "RETREAT GUARDIAN. DO NOT ENGAGE RANDAL." Variks' voice commanded. For a moment I thought I had heard Variks pronounce vandal as Randal. "THE PRISON IS LOST." I attempted to run but "Randal" again appeared in front of me with unbelievable speed. He grasped my throat and began to squeeze. Blackness inked across my vision and I embraced my final death. And suddenly, my vision returned. I lay on the sand of Skolas' chamber, watching through blurry eyes as Randal lumbered away from me toward the airlock. Why had he spared me? My mind jolted me back into lucidity and I immediately summoned my ghost. In seconds I was back in my ship hurtling toward the Vestian Outpost. Moments before I entered FTL travel, I watched as a large portion of the Prison of Elders silently blossom with explosions. "First, I warn the Queen and the Speaker. Then, I find and kill the Vandal."
