Catholics Are Not Christians

1. The Pope: -What the Catholic Church Teaches: Other bishops began to consider the bishop of Rome their superior; bishop of Rome was looked upon as the pope (“papa,” or “father”), the head of the church. -What the Bible Teaches: “And call no man your father upon the earth for one is your Father, which is in heaven” (Mt. 23:9, KJV). -What the Catholic Church Teaches: “Therefore we declare, state, define, and pronounce that for every creature to be subject to the Roman Pope is altogether necessary for salvation” (Pope Boniface III, r. 1294-1303). -What the Bible Teaches: “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9, ESV). 2. Mass: -What the Catholic Church Teaches: During the Dark Ages, the Roman church changed the memorial of the Lord’s Supper into the mass, a continual sacrifice for the living and the dead; thereby, it falsely teaches that Christ is continually offered for the sins of the living and the dead each time is observed. -What the Bible Teaches: “who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself” (Heb. 7:27, NASB). “If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” which all refer to things destined to perish with use in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence” (Col. 2:20-3, NASB). 3. Celibacy: -What the Catholic Church Teaches: Priests and nuns were forbidden to marry because they were considered to be “married” to the church. They had to live a life of celibacy. This practice led to much immorality among the priests. -What the Bible Teaches: “Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control” (1 Cor. 7:1-7, ESV). NOTE: I will try to add to this eventually. NOTE: This is not yet finished.
