With Fallout 4 on the horizon, has anyone here ever played the original isometric Fallouts by Interplay (of whom many employees went on to form Obsidian)? They feel weird by modern standards, but the games are great once you get used to them, and the writing is fantastic. Probably the one thing I hope for most for F4 is better writing, because I felt like F3's story and worldbuilding were really subpar in comparison to 1, 2, and NV

Fallout 1 and 2 were great. If you can, try the demo of FO1, it's a scenario that isn't in the final game. I prefer FO1 myself even though FO2 is much bigger. I enjoyed Fall out Tactics as well but quite a deferent type of game... A similar game by some of the creators of Fallout was Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura. Pretty much the same game just with a fantasy/steampunk setting.
