Destiny Lore: Vex The vex are machines. Where did they come from? Why do they attack us? Who made them. In the Black Garden we get an overview of the whole complex. It is pretty amazing actually. In a Grimoire card it talks about a dream where the dreamer was wandering through the garden and found a flower inter shape of a ghost. It pricks him and tells him to leave this place of light. He is a killer and will kill forever. And yet when we enter the black garden we are attacked by vex immediately. If this place is so sacred we can't kill than why are we getting attacked by these vex? The traveler created the ghosts to "seek out the light in guardians to fight for the traveler. Therefore ghosts are meant to help light correct? If this is true why was there a "Ghost" in the black garden. And why did the "Ghost" prick the dreamer(a guardian we can assume)? After one of the starting missions we have a cutscene with the speaker. He hints about a great battle and the darkness consuming everything. Yet he never goes into detail. This could just be the product of lazy developers or perhaps it might be that the speaker has a few secrets that we are not being told. We buy gear from him with our motes of light without a second thought. It does not say however what he does with them. He says in this cutscene that he speaks for the traveler until it finds its voice. Who have him that authority. How do we know he knows what's best for the traveler. He could have his own personal agenda. He might be telling us the exact opposite of what we should be doing. If you take a long hard look at the Vex goblins, Minotaurs, and structures, particularly on Mercury and their Portals. You will notice a particular roundness among them. The goblins with their round semicircle fan for their head, the Minotaurs' round shoulders and body structure... This all points to the fact that(and this might be a bit of a stretch) the Vex have ties with the traveler. The traveler has been [i]traveling[/i] if you will, across the galaxy spreading light to every creature whilst being chased by the darkness. This might include a race much older than humanity far in the reaches of space. During our golden age we built the Exo's to be self thinking machines bred for war. A very similar thing might have occurred with this other race that is somewhere else. A race similar to humans. This also fits with the circular theory of time in destiny but that's another story. Anyways the vex were built by this mystery race(we will call them the M for now) and then after the darkness came the traveler left to come to the Milky Way. The M must have survived somehow because their machines obviously did(new enemy in destiny 2 come on DeeJ!). The darkness had created self thought in the vex(another thing I might address in a future post. The darkness creating?). The vex were then able to think for themselves. After centuries and centuries the M and vex began to expand past their solar system and expand across the galaxy following the destruction of the darkness and remaking the worlds in their own image. Eventually they come to the Milky Way. Venus is the perfect place to set up their basis in this system. The M pull out to colonize another system while the vex are allowed to take over this one. The vex begin to set up a enormous complex that we know as the black garden. While they are building they find something. The "Heart". It reminds them of an object long passed for its power is great and terrible.(The Traveler) After trying to study it they come to one conclusion. It must be worshipped as the traveler was worshipped. Through the years they fight a pesky race known as humanity. Eventually they have had enough. They build a new vex known as Atheon. They send him back in time to destroy humans before they grow too powerful. That's it for now let me know what u think.
