Don't change it at all. I don't have thorn but I know it makes me better. Just like the AWP when I played counter strike.

Yet it still retains a high ROF, high mag size, high stably (For its high-impact archetype) and even with its inherent two-shot capabilities, still retains lingering damage. It's the most user-friendly weapon in the game. Intellectually acknowledging such unbalance has nothing to do with your stats. It's being analytical. You use Thorn as a main. You don't present mathematical data so support your stance, you simply insult anyone who disagrees with you. You generalize anyone who disagrees with you as a "scrub", as if it nullifies their stance. You're blatantly bias. ... You're just immature. 2 RepliesI'm still trying to figure out how Thorn is so OP when I don't seem to do any better using it than I do using any other primary. If it were OP, then I ought to notice a substantial difference in my performance by using it. I've yet to notice such a difference.

All the people who hate Thorn or have a problem with it.. I would just ask a few questions... Have you got the Thorn bounty yet? If yes have you completed it? If not.. Are you stuck on the part where you need void kills in PvP? If yes then there lies your problem.. (you just need to get better at PvP) There are so many videos from good players on YouTube that can be used as a guide to improve your PvP.. Just utilise them..

Everything is justified. Like ARs were before nerf, people saying it didn't need a nerf (which it didn't, only that other weapons types needed a buff). And now hand cannons like thorn and TLW are on the radar. People want to defend their weapon of choice and justify its unbalanced state. If people think that the past weapons like the vex mytho or suros regime were perfectly fine pre-nerf then you like crutch guns. I use thorn but not like the way others may use it. I use it as a scare tactic in trials so it pushs enemies back and my team controls the map. Same thing with grenades that prevent enemies from making certain engagments. 1 thing that pvp needs desperstly is to [b]make auto rifles viable and useful again[/b]

1 ReplyThorn can be very good in a skilled hand. However, in most cases the burn rewards the unskilled hand and just makes the competition a little harder. But it is completely counter able. Just keep engagements longer range and use a messenger or hawkmoon or red death or any half decent scout rifle or any other gun that isn't a low impact auto.

It's not overpowered, it's unbalanced. It has no identifiable weaknesses. Unlike every other exotic. Every other exotic has a weakness to be exploited and every good player knows that. Let's take a look at Thorn. Rate of fire? 2nd only to TLW. Range? Good to great depending on perks. Stability? Manageable to great depending on perks. Impact? Average. Mag size? Mid tier. Reload speed? Abover average for a handcannon. And let's not forget that it's a two shot kill. In Destiny's PvP, the ultimate goal is balance and Thorn isn't balanced. It has no weaknesses to exploit and is statically better than any primary in the game.

Don't have Thorn. Don't have a problem with Thorn either. I'm rubbish in PvP but I still shred the odd thorn user with my Hardlight and I have a lot of fun doing it. It only gets boring when a whole team uses thorn. That doesn't make Thorn any more op than most exotics and well balanced legendaries. It's just that a lot of people like using Thorn atm.

You're kind of missing the point. Of course a better player will beat someone who is using Thorn, while wielding another weapon. However, if you came up against a player who has exactly the same skill level as you who is using Thorn, you will lose most of the time. It's for that reason that the weapon needs to be adjusted. Only slightly, but adjusted nonetheless. To simply say "I can beat almost anyone who uses Thorn" says less about the weapon than it does about you. Fair enough if you're a really good player but consider the players who aren't as good, coming up against far better players who refuse to put the thing down. It's a massacre. I don't want all weapons to be nerfed into the ground, I don't even want perfect balance. I want PvP to be an area where there are weapons that excel when used in the right play style but fall down in other ways. Right now Thorn is too good in too many situations.

I agree that it shouldn't need a nerf.... However, that being said, it's overused to the point of it being a rare sight to NOT see someone using it in the crucible. With that being the case, it needs to be dealt with in some fashion in order to promote variety. It's not really the gun's fault completely, people who play crucible are beginning to believe that if you don't use Thorn, you won't win. On the flip side, if they see an enemy team with thorn, they instantly become demoralized. Now, if you ask me, the biggest problem with Thorn in all of crucible comes not when ONE player uses the gun, but rather the ENTIRE enemy team. I've had it happen to my team during Iron Banner, and I don't think I've ever gone more negative. They ran in groups of two and focused fire until we were all at spawn, then proceeded to spawn camp until they won. They had an excellent strategy, and I applaud them for keeping us down, but I know our team would have AT LEAST stood a chance with a few less thorns in our side.

Agreed. The messenger is skilled hands beat thorn EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also high RoF pulse rifles beat them when you have to be aggressive.
