Is Red Death any good?

I received this as a drop from PoE, but I do not use Pulse Rifles. It feels like I am carrying a goat around. Are the perks worth the extra bulk? Thanks!

  • Really good for pvp but I would keep your gjallarhorn for pve. Red death is a two or three burst kill in crucible

  • It is by far my favorite pvp gun, I rarely use it in pve though, it has good range and impact(can kill in two bursts with all headshots) I out shoot TLW and Thorn all the time and the healing is really nice in skirmish and rumble, it was the first exotic gun I upgraded

  • FYI - I am horrible at Crucible and usually only play it to complete easy Bounties or for the Daily showcased match. I will likely keep Gjellyroll equipped for PvE, and try maxxing RD out using bounties to use in the sporatic Cricible matches. Thanks, everyone.

  • I guess it depends on where you're using it. I don't play crucible much, but the times I have, I see lots of people using one and doing well. I stay mostly in pve. And I don't like it much for pve. While it does have a healing perk, it shoots painfully show. I've gotten accustomed to much faster shooting pulse rifles where you can spam the trigger and it's almost like full auto. Bottom line for me, it's just too slow.

  • Totally worth it, dude. I love mine. It's one of the top dogs in crucible, and basically any story mission that doesn't have an "epic" modifier. Don't let the stats fool you, the gun is really stable, although the range is a bit lacking. The regen/reload perk is AMAZING, especially if you have a hard time keeping your health up or your mag full In the crucible, it's a two burst to the head, or three burst to the body to kill, dealing 34 damage to the head, and I BELIEVE, but am unsure, as to the body damage, but I think it's 27. Any tier one enemy (dregs, shanks, vandals, acolytes, thrall, psions, legionairs, goblins, harpies) it's normally a one shot burst kill. Tier two enemies (captians, knights, centurions, colossus, wizards, hobgoblins, minotaurs) will take little more work, but it still gets the job done.

    • One of the best PVP weapons you can use. I use it all the time in the Trials and for IB. It's regen health perk works well for Crota Hard as well if you don't use Gjallarhorn.
