Which PvP era did you prefer?

Original Assault rifle/fusion ruled

Current Exotic Handcannon/shotgun ruled

And why? For me the original but wish with suros only doing about 5% less damage and the fusion rifle spread change happening. Current pulse rife buff would be good too Anyone using weapons before they were changed drastically by patches? Used to use TLW before Dark below came out since noone else used it, also miss my Shingen C :c

          • The original...mostly. The pulse rifles needed a buff, but the auto nerf just sent players diving into the Hand Cannon ranks, creating the current nightmare of Thorn Banner and Hand Cannon superiority. At least with original it felt as if there was a greater mix of primary weapons and if you got killed by a fusion rifle you knew to just stay a bit farther away from the player using it. Now, sheesh, run and hide before you get Thorn sniped from the other side of the map. If you have an auto rifle, you better vault it. I love my autos (Shadow Price forever), but I can barely use them in Crucible anymore and don't even dare think about using them in Thorn Banner.

          • The good old days when the top tier guns could actually be beaten, now TLW can outgun LMGs and the Thorn can out-snipe snipers

            • Before easily. Even with as many complaints about Suros and fusions back then you at least saw some weapon variety. Now it's all Thorn/TLW and shotguns 95% of the time.

              • i miss auto rifles they should only just nerfed suros not every auto rifle suros was reasonable since it has focus fire which increases damage plus glass half full bottom half mag extra damage with random chance of healing every other auto rifle didnt deserve the nerf

                • I wasn't a big fan of the whole autorifles everywhere thing, but nerfing them into the ground really wasn't the answer. I do miss using my Shadow Price though, thing was a beast. I feel that with a buff to return Autos to their full glory, with maybe a slight buff for scouts, the balance would be pretty good. Wouldn't need to touch Handcannons, so everybody would be happy.

                • I like the balance of things as they are now, minus the fact that auto rifles got nerfed to the ground. I think that if auto rifles weren't so useless these days, the weapons balance would be perfect. Shotguns kill from acceptable ranges, (granted it can be a bit annoying at times, but I don't think it is too absurd). Pulse rifles reward precision shooting at proper ranges. If the precision shots are missed, it takes considerably more ammo and time to kill. Hand cannons are effective at close to mid range fights, fire slowly and hit hard as they should. At distance it is hard to keep up with scouts and pulse rifles, but it can be done with proper perks. Scout rifles are good at mid to long and are very successful at killing at their distance. Fusion rifles are mid ranged, with the occasional perfect set of perks that allow for longer range kills, although this is rare. They have to land most of their spread in order to kill. Sniper rifles take a fair amount of skill to kill consistently with, as spam firing is a bit limited due to lack of available special. They are best at long ranges, although a good sniper can use them at almost any range, it is inconvenient in the closer ranges. Side arms are a wild card at the moment as there are only two and I have been less than impressed with them. Auto rifles can't compete with anything. They don't have the range to compete with scout or even some pulse rifles. They don't have the power to compete with hand cannons at close range, or even take down a shot gunner that is rushing you. If they had more power to them, maybe not as much as the past but definitely more, they could rival hand cannons and people wouldn't have such a tough time with them, as there are few weapon types that can handle hand cannons in their effective range.

                      • The best pvp Era in my mind was when their were few exotics and legendary weapons on the field and more rares. Felt more diverse than it does now.

                          Current era. The range on ARs was a pain; Pulse Rifles, Hand Cannons, and Shotguns were being left in vaults collecting dust. The balance now, in my opinion, is ideal. ARs/Handcannon work at close-mid range, Handcannon/Pulse Rifles at mid-long, Snipers at long range, and Fusion/Shotguns at close/CQC range. Fusion rifles are/were meant to counter Shotguns. Rip off a round, let the enemy come in, then melee/kill. Not to be used at mid-long range. EDIT: Mark my words, a Handcannon nerf is coming. Just wait and see.

                          They can reach a middle ground. It is possible. Could've also made the choices "suros" or "thorn,tlw,vex"

                          • The original. Fusion rifles weren't nearly as big an issue as the shotguns used to be. All everyone used to use were rare auto rifles and the pickens were good. Now this whole exotic handcannon craze is getting quite annoying and seeing at scouts and pulse rifles haven been proven effective it's time to bring the auto rifle back and lower the handcannons below the rest. They really should be CqC weapons like side arms and shotguns and they should never, ever outgun a scout rifle cross map.
