Let's be honest, Thorn is the most noob gun in the game that requires little skill. Ridiculous range and damage, if the direct shots don't kill the burn always does. It literally does your work for you. Not saying all who use it don't have skill, but how sad is it that you depend on it to get your kills for you while you hide behind a corner.

I prefer hawkmoon and red death personally. Better paced weapons in my opinion. There are some good players with thorn and there's horrible players with thorn. I think if you're skilled you can probably do better with other weapons though. Just my 2 cents.
-
The burn is actually a weakness. Allows you time to kill them. If it did the damage all at once like hawkmoon or TLW then you'd be dead much sooner. So now mater how you look at it they didn't hide like cowards, you're already dead so no use wasting time when you could be looking for the next target.

Cant beat em, join em I stopped complaining and just started using it too

The D-Bag load out: Thorn, Felwinters lie

In every pvp game people gravitate towards the most effective or quickest TTK weapons. It's how you should play if you want to be effective, if you're so good you can handicap yourself by using something else? Go for it. For the average player, use what works, crying about getting killed by average players using good guns is just being salty
-
I use thorn. I play the crucible only for the exotic bounties so I play for kills. Gotta do what I gotta do. I'm not gonna stand there and swing a stick if everybody's in a tank, metaphorically speaking, am I right? Lol
-
People who fight without the most effective weapons are idiots.
-
Says the guy who mains TLW, Hawkmoon, and Thorn.
-
So, by your important words, people will stop using it? Let me tell you something son, it's OK to vent out but people will continue to use it, your words will not change anyone's mind about using that weapon, people will play as they want and won't give a shit if you're pleased or not Get real son

Destiny is lag filled garbage filled with skill less players who only use the most op weapons. Worst PvP ever created. PvP is supposed to test a players skill against other players and there is no skill required to play destiny. Just get an op hand cannon or sniper and camp it up like all the people do. Oh until heavy drops. Then switch to a rocket launcher and fire away because you need no skill for those either.

I've found that I get far more kills with my actual shots than I do with the DoT. I typically get one head shot and two body shots (follow-up head shots are hard for me). I agree that the range is insane. I strongly prefer sniping over shotgunning, but I don't even carry a sniper anymore because I never use it. That said, I love the challenge of having "sniper battles" with actual snipers, as I feel were evenly matched at long ranges. My favorite part about the DoT is that I can see where my enemy is retreating to (via the floating numbers) and can adjust my fight accordingly. I was a big Thorn hater until I tried it... It is nearly unstoppable in the right hands, but it definitely (in my opinion) takes some skill to use (just like The Last Word).

Even worse the final round perk is a one hit headshot kill. They can have full health and as long as you land a headshot with that final round it will get them down in the red from the kinetic damage and the mark of the devourer will finish them off. Just one headshot?! Come on. I usually don't cry for nerfs. I just roll with the flow and try and either beat them at their own game or use it against them. I usually try and stay far away from the thorns and snipe them or get real close and melt them with the vex before they can land both of their headshots on me. I usually can out smart or outgun a thorn. Efrideets spear vex or hawkmoon is all you need
-
Maybe it's because you're using the most terrible primary weapons.
-
Calling me a coward? See you in the crucible
-
I use thorn all the time, I also use word of crota, the last word and I seem to get a similar amount of kills with all three, don't think it's that Op
-
Thorn for Control, TLW for Rumble. At least that how I like to do it.
-
Take the poison out of thorn!! Take the rockets out of gjallarhorn!! #satire

Another Thorn Post
-
I started IB with thorn, then I used TLW ... TLW is so great ! (Thorn and fusion was find for too for me, go Ib I preferar TLW and snipe)
-
What a load of crap, the dot kills me less than a third of the time, sounds like you are just not smart enough to mobilise when you get that green screen.
-
If I ever use Thorn I generally try to kill them with actual shots, not the DoT. Whenever they do die from the DoT it's generally because they ran off since they were gonna lose that fight anyways
-
My, what an insightful and original post.

What do you use in crucible??
-
I will use a golf club if it kills the fastest, especially if it is OP and so will most players. There is nothing to prove. Killing is more fun than dying. Depends on my mood. Sometimes I use vex, sometime I use thorn, other times I use VoC or mida. I also like sticky nades because: How fun is postmortem vs. someone who got the drop on you, right? I have done well in other PVP but I am pretty much a scrub in this game and don't much give a shit whatever anyone else thinks. This PVP is laggy, unbalanced, silliness compared to any real competitive PVP. I play to have fun not to impress the hardcore players with their k/d measuring and false bravado about using "real weapons". Burning you with the vex, poisoning you with my thorn or sticking you with my nade makes me happy and if that is an equalizer then so be it. Tough shit. Either pick one up and join in the fun, kill us faster or keep getting killed a lot while still somehow managing to feel superior. Now here's hoping for my exotic golf club to drop.

What a good name, Thorn. It seems to be in a lot of people's sides.
