These games all are famous for their absolutely magnificent storylines and player direction... But there can only be one best. You decide!
Edit #1: This is a satirical post for those who didn't catch on by the tag or me adding the game No Luca No (which literally has no plot, and entails smacking a cat away from a bowl of cereal). The games that are on this list are all known for lacking plot development, direction, etc. some it works well for, like Dark Souls and Minecraft, others, not so much (Destiny).
Edit #2: For those of you who don't know why despite my explanations in the comments but continue to comment on it, I did for 3 reasons. 1. It's story was minimal, which all the games I mentioned basically do in one way or another. 2. It is an example of how minimalistic stories can be done right (in contrast to other games on the list) and 3. Most importantly, I needed a 7th game to have a complete list of games to vote upon.

Edited by Gomly1980: 5/31/2015 8:43:32 PMYou make your own stories in Minecraft and Garry's Mod (or Garry's Mod can be used to make porn ..... somebody told me). Goat Simulator tells the story of being a Goat ... in a simulator ... a Goat Simulator (I was going somewhere in my head but it went again). Dark Souls has quite a bit of lore hidden around in the game if you look. Call of Duty has a campaign. They are usually short and shit but it's there. No Luca No tells the heart wrenching tale of a cat that really wants some cereal. Poor cat is hungry. This gets my vote. Destiny has a website that has all the story but the game is as barren as the Sahara.

Garrys mod has the BEST story ever 10/10 IGN
-
Mine craft and destiny have no story. Replace one with the last of us. That will be a game that is remembered for centuries.
-
Minecraft. Just because a character is mute, doesn't mean that they don't have a story.
-
What a weird post; dark souls actually has a really good story/plot, it only lacks in main character development - but I understand that many people are unable to appreciate that
-
What nothing from the ff

Edited by The First Aifos: 5/31/2015 10:10:51 PMDark Souls' plot is present, and it's actually really good. Not inly that, but the method of storytelling (placing the backstory, and such within item descriptions) is one of my favorites.

Destiny for sure!!! The way you immediately felt immersed in the story, the characters' development, the emotional involvement with your Guardian, your ghost, the seamless integration of cinematic + gameplay... Amazing! And the script was so well written, most powerful lines I've heard in a game in a long long time. After finishing the campaign, you were truly in awe at the depth of this game. Bravo!
Best storytelling was all in the music. Not by words alone... #NeverForgetMotS
Mineycrafta.

Ms. Pac-Man ftw

Um, dark souls does have a good story you know. Don't understand why it was lumped together with everything else here.

Does fallout 3 count?

I see you're trying to make a point with this, but I feel your irony is misused. Dark Souls is one of the most amazing examples of minimalistic storytelling in video game history. So I'm not sure what you were trying to say by lumping that in here. Destiny was actually largely influenced by Dark Souls. I think they told us too much, and that is exactly what ruined the mysterious storyline they tried to convey. It should have been, go find out what's been going on and that's it. Our ghost should have been as clueless as we were, not a constant exposition piece in your ear. Anyway, we can all agree that Destiny's story went awry. CoD, I loves me some CoD. There's nothing great about the story in the CoD games, but they're at least as good as any given summer blockbuster (Mad Max excluded). So when I'm after some terrible action move fun, I go to CoD. No Luca No is probably the best game ever, so I have no idea what you're on about. <- Now I'm trying to be funny/ironic.

I see no Half-Life (3)

Edited by CaptKrunch: 5/30/2015 3:05:14 AMJokes on you, Dark Souls has a great story if you're willing to pay attention! Maybe Dark Souls 2 less so, but you can learn so much about the world just by the environment itself and talking to the various NPC's.

Dark Souls has a good story. Destiny...well it's there if you look for it. (Please be gentle!)

The witcher 3

Dark souls hands down. The only cods with a good story is Cod 3, Cod 4, WaW, and Black Ops 1-2

Edited by Enthous: 5/29/2015 10:05:46 PM
Minecraft

Garry's mod

Goat simulator
Wat These games don't even HAVE a specific story..
-
Edited by CNN: 5/29/2015 11:59:40 PMThe modern warfares 1 and 2 and the original black ops On that list at least
-
Dark souls first cod second and destiny is in third. Holy shit it's rather accurate though I hate cod I'm not going to say campaigns stories are bad just generic fps kinda stories but over top action with it normally entertaining (I haven't played like the last 4 or 5 of them so I could be wrong now)

Edited by Oddball: 5/29/2015 9:40:24 PMDestiny! I was so immersed in the universe and lore and it also has one of the best storytelling to date! Anybody who doesn't vote Destiny is obviously lying to themselves.

Technically, Gmod. Because it's a mod. So it can have anything in it. Including the best story ever told in the history of gaming
