tldr: "Destiny lag is real" I created this post a few Iron Banners ago to open discussion about lag switching/lag cheating. I want to propose a fix to the lag in competetive online games. IMO, this is a bigger problem than cheesing bosses since the cheaters are affecting actual people. Here is a simple solution that could easily be implemented: 1) baseline the connection of each player prior to match. not enough bandwidth, you cannot play Trials. 2) during match player falls under threshold, display warning of imminent kick due to connection. 2a) player quickly "fixes" issue and continues 2b) player continues to lag and gets kicked 3) game continues minus the lagger -- problem solved. Maybe a high latency "lag" server can be dedicated for all who cannot meet the minimum requirements but still want to play online.
