Skolas needs to be toned down.

Please read before downvoting or such. I'm editing this to be more straight to the point rather then complain about my personal recent experience doing this boss fight. He is just too difficult. Now let me go into this discussion two fold. Explaining the two sides of the fight and how people are counter complaining about it. The biggest thing for some people is that they enjoy how hard this fight is. Keep in mind at this point I haven't seen any proof a person has beat this the way Bungie intended too. Every account of beating him is by using the rocket cheese hole. Now most people counter argue the difficulty by saying making it hard makes it feel less easy to grind and whatnot, but if most of the people killing him are doing it in 45 seconds, that seems counter arguementive to begin with. The fix for the fight, yes DOES require a nerf of the boss fight or at the very least, do the changes I suggest and leave his original difficulty as a optional thing for people who want to take the challenge, without any special reward. Tone down his health by 25-30% Says it all, with solar burn people are gonna abuse the trick anyhow, and this will make it better for people who wanna try it normal. This with.... Make waves come with his health Again says it all, consistant waves, with enemy's who can one shot you makes doing it normally almost impossible, let us clear a wave, bring his health down, fight him again.

  • I would agree, not because Skolas is hard. Simply because there aren't any raid-like primaries dished out for beating an enemy with Crota like health. All while the PVPers, Bungie's newest darlings, are given enough etheric light for an instant 34, a special clubhouse on Mercury, and an elemental primary weapon.

      • He's not too difficult if your well coordinated. Me and my friends did it the other day. Me a hunter Friend 1 hunter Friend 2 warlock. No ghorns we used one celestial nighthawk 2 ice breakers a vex a hunger of crota and against all odd. He died pretty quick just a round of objectives.

No, he is already far too easy on solar burn. If it changes to arc or anything else, it's just going to be easier to melt him whilst the waves haven't even spawned. We've killed him without gjalla, with 2 men dead, mines spawning and the burn on a constant countdown, if you're good enough you'll find a way through.

Skolas is fine. The problem is there are way too many mobs. Too much shrapnel gun captains. It's artificial difficulty.

            • I ground this out for hours till I found the right team. We beat him on second attempt in 1 min ( huge relief). 3 34 guardians with Max gallys and you will kill him fast. I agree about the nerf because anything than 34 with Max gally and you will struggle.

            • I wouldnt mind spending several hours practicing on him if i didnt have to do it all in one -blam!-ing sitting, youre forced to keep going because there are no checkpoints. We need a checkpoint system. Something linked to your character. Theres a whole bunch of slots for missions in your items. That area could be used as a progress tracker and you can only join groups that have completed to the same round. This would suck if one person leaves the group at skolas, because you would need to find a third person with skolas checkpoint, but it would successfully prevent checkpoint swapping. Anyway, the only reason i think everyone is so frustrated is because we cant take an hour break and come back and try again with fresh minds. We are forced to keep trying over and over until our eyes bleed or kids have their moms yelling at them. The amount of poor design decisions in house of wolves is amazing.

              • Don't waste time with weapons of light. Doesn't affect rockets. One stays at beginning and stuns him with rockets while 2 go far left take out servitor. When they begin firing rockets first guy joins them eats a synth starts firing keeping him stunned while the first 2 eat synth then everyone finishes him off. By stun locking him at start he can't teleport on to you as fast.

The problem is too many players are atempting skolas undergeared. Then complaining the difficulty is broken when itsreally them being unprepared. It took my team a few hours of several wipes just to kill skolas, let alone be able to manage both the poison and the mines at the same time. We only had just scraped up 34 gear and our gjallahorns were the only 365 weapons we had. After a few weeks past and we all have enough etheric light the max more gear im sure the fight will be a lot more bareable.

              • My team burned him in 3 minutes, hint (weapons of light). But it took 2 hours and several wipes in round 3 and round 4. Don't worry young guardian, he will get easier as more strategies come out.

              • Lvl 35 is easy af skolas takes less than two minutes I don't want to give out the strategy but if you kill him fast enough enemy's don't spawn

I'll admit that I've only beaten it with the chees'ish method. We tried the exact same strat, but substituted one gjallarhorn for a maxed out fwc solar rocket, and we couldn't down him in time before the mines went off. How the absolute f*ck are teams supposed to do it without even a single gjallarhorn? And forget about doing it the legitimate way by actually defusing all the mines. It's not happening.

                • i spent all day before finally giving up the problem we kept having was we had to keep moving to avoid all the damn captains that one shot us. we were all lvl 34 with 365 g-horns we tried every strategy we could think of but still had to keep moving and once you move out of the left corner finding skolas when your ready to attack him (after taking out the second servitor or going for the mines hes never anywhere to be seen until your being over ran by captains and then he appears out of no where to wipe out the entire team with one shot (that and my hunters invisibility has no meaning since ALL the enemy continue to shoot and track me long after i turn invisible. even enemies that are freshly spawning know exactly where i am.)

                  • If this was a post saying that a weapon needed to be nerfed, you would be flamed. But you are asking that the game itself be nerfed so that your team can complete it. Gamers everywhere are ashamed of you...

                    • Idk man. I watched my friend do it with a team of 34's weapons of light and black hammer.. Just saying it can be done.. But you have to keep staggering him and making sure you don't reset your black hammer perk.. Constant snipers with head shots should do it.. Btw gjallahorn is not affected by weapons of light.. Because of the hidden proximity perk on gjallahorn it never makes direct impact with the enemy, and Wolfpack rounds or clusters aren't affected by weapons of light either. Weapons of light will help the hunger of crota and other weapons that have tracking but don't have proximity perks. I hope this has been helpful! Make sure to try triple black hammer, and use ur special ammo synths if you miss a couple times
