Thorn, thorn, thorn!
The thorn is the most broken gun in the game. It needs to be nerfed. When its the ONLY gun being used in the crucible that should say that its OVERPOWERED! I have one myself and even I can admit that. Bungie needs to fix it asap. The crucible is being ruined by one gun. There's no diversity anymore. Bungie, please for the love of whoever your god is, nerf this game breaking gun into the dirt. It's ruining PvP.

It's not that good nor is it always used its a great gun but don't sell it like a salesperson I played trials all weekend and it was usually only used by one person per match

I very rarely get killed by the burn off the Thorn. This would mean they landed both head shots on me and that just isn't the case when I come against it. It's a great weapon but I don't think it's over powered. I prefer Hawk-awesome or Red Death myself though. Sometimes I even go in with the 4th Horseman as my exotic just for fun lol

5 RepliesOk there's a difference between wanting it nerfed, and wanting it removed. To me it sounds like you want it removed so people won't use it. Stop asking for nerfs all it will do is ruin the weapon and the game. Do you use Suros?? Probably not because it was nerfed to shit with every other AR because people like you ruined them. Stop. If wonder why they nerfed suros so hard because of over usage but Thorn remains untouched. Out of 21 enemies last night 16 were using Thorn. People even put other weapons in their loadout first and switch to Thorn mid flight to hide the gun....... Of course you can counter Thorn like any other gun/ability but it requires an unusual high amount of effort and precision to counter it. And if your opponents just barely know what they are doing it is next to impossible to counter. Especially if there are two or more thorns in the enemy team.

This is surprising after Xur sold The Last Word. Counter Thorn with Red Death if you have it. Or counter it with The Last Word, because it pretty much counters everything.

You get my point all it takes is a group doing well with one particular weapon and poof its op. So think to yourself what gun is next and how can I find and use it first.

Some auto rifles WERE a good counter to thorn at mid range

First of all....no. It's an extremely common weapon in trials because the burning shrine is in most scenarios a mid range map. The map lays to the thorns strength and as such it's used commonly. In terms of normal crucible I don't know what you where play but thorn is by no means the only gun being used. It's just as common as any other exotic in normal crucible.

There are several godly weapons in this game, I remember when suros used to be on par with thorn , TLW and red death, now if I try to use mine I'm either in shotgun rushing range or the last word range I'm so mad at bungie for how they're handling the crucible

1 ReplyPlease... I've seen plenty other weapons own in pvp. Red death, hawkmoon, over soul edict, vision of Confluence, any shotgun, any sniper. It's the skill of the user that matters. Not the weapon.

More like everything else needs to be usable. That is what a gun should be, not like the automatic tickle rifles, headshot machines, shotguns, snipers, glorified tazers and other weak weapons. We should have more weapons like the 4th holyshit, Monte Carlo:Last of the pre 1.1.1 auto rifles, Red Death machines and Gjallahorn quality weapons that are not shotguns with the range of a throwing knife or exotics only. All weapons should be able to compete with each other on all maps, not a few constant weapons dominating on the same stupid claustrophobic maps like the Dark Below crucible maps (starting to wish that these were still exclusives and I wouldn't have to explore these 1v1 maps with squads of 6v6) and have maps that tailor to all weapon types at some part in the level (anyone remember or still play first light?)and have those have minor differences so that there is no all purpose and dominating weapon like auto rifles were and hand cannons and shotguns currently are.

No the Vex Mithoclast really bothers me. I cannot go 1 game or Trial of Osiris without getting killed by it. It need to go down cause it is a freaking fusion rifle as a primary weapon and it fully automatic. Just think about it and u will understand.

Thorn is easy mode. It can kill with as many rounds as a legendary balanced handcannon yet fires faster, has poison that prevents shield from recharging, and can 2 shot opponents if you land 2 headshots. All that, without any real disadvantages.

I disagree. I played crucible all weekend and only in 2 games did anyone use the thorn. When you get hit by the thorn and your screen starts tweeking green. Guess what "RUN AWAY"

There are too many Thorn users in Trials. It might need a nerf, but not one to nerf it to the ground.
