With the changes to the upgrade system that HoW brought along, it now takes a fraction of the upgrade materials (spinmetal, helium, etc) to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor. Not only were the damage/defense upgrades eliminated outright, but the material cost per upgrade was reduced by 1/2 to 2/3. Which is great! I love it! Except for the fact that my 100+ stacks of materials are now almost completely useless. This is material accrued in the relatively normal course of play, via daily heroics, bounties, and oh hey is that a chest over there?
When the game initially launched, there was the option to turn in materials to the various factions for reputation & marks. It was largely superfluous at the time, because everyone was putting all of their materials towards gear upgrades. It was eventually replaced with the ability to buy materials with marks instead, which made way more sense at the time. But now, when the material cost of upgrades is negligible and the game is shoving even more spirit bloom in my face thanks to the Queen and her bounties, I'd really appreciate a return of being able to sell materials back to the vanguard.
