Just posting to start a conversation, or something. Actually I just want to see what this post turns into. Just keep it clean and good guys and gals. As you can see, I am suffering from severe insomnia as most Alaskans do at this time of year and the same goes for fall. I tend not to get creative with only 1-2 hours of sleep a night.
P.S any ideas for helping with insomnia, anything at all besides meds. My body is way too strong for meds.

Exercise. You have too much energy built up. Exercising will boost your energy during the day, and help you sleep better at night. Get an old, heavy push mower, sans-powered wheels, and mow my lawns. There's about 2 acres of it to mow, and half of it is moss. It takes 2 or 3 hours. You'll be tired... Also, when you are playing Xbox, or on the computer, or watching TV, use one of those inflatable Exercise balls instead of a chair, and balance on your knees on it, instead of sitting (use your elbows for stability untill your balance is good enough to allow you to do otherwise. That's lot's of work too.

Blackout curtains. I live across the street from a light-crazed neighbor, so blackout curtains always help me :)

play halo on xbox live, or do something cardiovascular untill you crash, like you faint from exhaustion seriously i wake up feeling so good after i do that.

insomnia means lack of sleep??? but to fall asleep, all you have to do is go to school... or you can play any Harry Potter game! donating half of your blood would sure work too!

Incensing household pets might work. mmmm.....fleshy.....

I've tried everything, from reading(read War of the Worlds in 6 hours) to listening to reggae to knowing the Science channels schedual (sp?) by heart and Kroenan, that is only in the summer. We are getting lot's more light now then we did in winter and it's the transition from winter to summer that is messing with me. The funny thing is what got me sleepy enough to sleep was coffee. Oh the irony...

Or you could watch a re run of the oscars, that made me pretty drowzy.

Or, you can just run into a concrete wall head first.
Posted by: Gaara of Sand Nope... but it's only 7:29pm here so :P Listen to some classical music... or failing that something orchestra based (like a movie soundtrack)... something quiet and soothing... Like bits of LotR or something. Tristan ;-)
and if that fails, there's always all those documentary channels on tv.

Not really. I went to sleep at noon today and woke up at 8. Is it like sunny over there or something? Sunny at 1 AM would be weird as hell.

lol, yeah no kidding. I am all out of incense and stuff now. I drank all the hot tea. I have no milk. Hell, I don't even have a mallet, well not within 30 feet of me. Well, does anyone around here have insomnia too?

Turn your TV onto the shopping channel I garuntee you will fall asleep,or money back.

Eh, no luck with sleep. I have to admit though, I manage to get myself stuck between consciousness and being asleep and felt like I was in free fall. At first it scared the -blam!- out of me but then it was pretty cool. The bad thing about this insomnia is that it messes with your mental state. I am seeing stuff out the corner of my eyes and hearing whispers and it is trippy but goes away with a decent night sleep.

I pop in the Halo 1 soundtrack and head to bed. Or I play a game until I fall asleep playing it.

lol yea i have this kinda called jasmine and it works it has a nice smell that makes me just fall asleep so hope it works out for ya ^_^

That's true. For some reason though, Japanese anime relaxes me when it isn't all ADHD (Fooly Cool), I'll try that incense thing in a sec.
-
Hmm well for me to actually go to sleep i usually listen to music (which i have turned down pretty low) and i sometimes burn some insence which helps me go to sleep sometimes

Lol, I can see it now. I'll be on the front page of the newspaper MAN KILLS SELF TRYING HOME REMEDY FOR INSOMNIA hmmm..... *glares at really big hammer in corner*

I always thought that a large mallet did the job quite well.
