End the Repeat Posts!

Just voicing my opinion of these forums. If you are against reading someones opinion then turn away from this post please. Is a shame that, in my opinion, the vast majority of the posts to these forums are related to hating on someone or something, even though most these posts only represents a tiny proportion of the Destiny community. It seems like all of the "Xûrned or Earned", "[blank] is OP, please nerf", "Destiny is shìt" and the rest of that ilk of post are all too popular right now. I think the forums should be more closely moderated by Bungie, to end the constant hate posts which flood the forums making it a feeding ground for all the trolls, haters and general jackasses who have nothing constructive to say about anything. End all of the repeat posts! Disable the ability to post a topic if it too closely resembles another in the point it is trying to put across, and maybe give a link to the post which most closely resembles their own's topic. This would very effectively limit the vast amount of hateful posts and rants and make room for genuine, constructive discussion. If you want to hate on something, you would have to find the original post about said object of your disdain to hate on it. It would discourage the haters greatly and the forums would be a more peaceful, stable place to discuss and share your whims and woes of your time playing Destiny politely and constructively. Or more easily, create a category in the forum called 'Non-Constructive Criticism' or 'The Pit of Disdain and Woe' and direct all hateful posts to this area. I don't expect anyone to take notice of this but please, if you have nothing constructive to say about this issue, I urge you to say nothing at all.
As I understand my own post, I suspect their are many similar to it. I have not come across them myself, so I have made one of my own. I trust you will understand this. I also understand my vast overuse of the word 'constructive'. You need not notify me of this.
Community Requests specifically tells us to start a new topic for things we want to see. Therefore similar or repeat posts are required.

  • Deej looks at posts and frequently brought up topics, which include repeat posts, are what catches his attention. Your finger is a scroll away from not seeing the post.

  • Some gaming boards I post constructive lengthy post regarding topics I think can bring value. Those boards usually belong to devs who are interested in improvement, don't suffer from moon-sized hubris, understand gameplay and player needs, want to deliver fun instead of pain and generally want to support their own game to become more successful in the future. This is not one of those boards. /screeches /flingspoop

    • The first step to attempting to remedy the described situation is for Bungie to make the forums a real forum, and not a "news feed" type forum where everything doesn't rely on hash tags and real search features. I've created a few duplicate posts by accident (just like your spoiler indicates you may have). That was due to the fact that not everyone knows how to properly use hash tags, and the search functionality focuses solely on hash tags. Not post title or content.

Thanks for taking the time to voice your thoughts. I am not a Bungie employee, but as a volunteer moderator it simply isn't realistic to suggest that Ninjas here can eliminate EVERY post that is a repeat or not necessarily constructive. This community is very large and new posts are created rapidly. Besides, threads/posts viewed as constructive or nonconstructive is highly subjective and will vary from user to user, especially what is or isn't a repeat topic. Having said that, you already have the tools to moderate your own view of the forums and to flag inappropriate posts for Ninja review. Bungie introduced new forum options before the launch of Destiny. Try using the Mute/Hide features via the Destiny Companion app or on bungie.net, which will make posts and topics you dislike (even those that don't violate the Code of Conduct) disappear instantly. Even "reporting" a post for Personal Reasons will make it disappear right away. You can also "dislike" or "downvote" topics that you find unsavory and "like" the ones that you think are higher in quality, and that way, the entire community can dictate which topics become Trending.

          • You forgot about "___ number of hours played and still no (insert weapon here) and I'm tired of seeing (number of friends that got the weapon) friends get it over and over. Just make Xür hand out the -blam!-ing (insert weapon here) already! It's not fair! You're withholding content by not letting Xür sell (insert weapon here). I can't do anything without (insert weapon here) because I have never heard of Hunger of Crota, Truth or any other legendary with tracking but I see LFG always asking for (insert weapon here) and I can't play with randoms that must completely suck if they think needing (insert weapon here) is needed for the task. Please Bungie, I beg you to allow Xür to sell (insert weapon here) or just drop it off in the postmaster. It'll be our secret. Please please please Bungie." type of threads made. Every day there is at least like 10 new ones, all the same in every way. Some take more words than others and some take fewer. It's just... sad to say the least.

Sorry, but I am assuming they are your opinion of the percentages of negative/positive posts. Statistics are facts used to support an argument, using made up ones just highlights a lazy approach to a topic if not a fraudulent claim on a position.... Why not say "it appears that a lot" or "in my opinion a vast number" etc etc, then it will put your opinion/argument on a footing to highlight your raised points.

                    • One thing moderators do over on the Minecraft forums is if they see threads that are the same, then what they do is label one as redundant and lock it. Maybe the mods here should do the same.

You'd get more sense pleading to the wall than you would to this forum on being more mature and neighborly with their words and opinions lol Nothing new, it is what it is. I just wish Bungie would conduct their forum a bit more actively by actually moving threads to relevant boards or deleting redundant threads completely. Maybe a good place to start would be to not have the option right there at bottom to "start a similar topic". Would be a start.

                          • I have to agree and really Bungie needs to look at other games like smite. Bring in a tribunal full of full of fellow players to judge. Bring real life aspect to reduce negativity.
