**Please Read** Weapon Smithing & FULLY Customizable Weapons

EDIT 2: Forgot to mention custom gun skins! Once maxed out you would have the option to equip one of your shaders to your new weapon (Honestly I'm surprised this isn't already a thing) Side note: custom shaders!? What do you guys think? Bungie, are you listening? EDIT 1: Alright, great response so far! A few things that should be mentioned: - Created weapons should not exceed legendary status. Base stats and available perks would be on par with other legendaries I.e. no wolfpack rounds, no red death or thorn perks etc. - Perks will be In the same order as regular legendaries. The first column of 3 will essentially be aesthetic attachments like scopes/sights or barrels/compensators, nothing game changing and nothing too expensive, each row will be more expensive than the last. The second column will be the level 1 perk, nothing too OP just things like zen moment, 2 shells per tube, hip fire accuracy etc.. The damage increases will stay the same. The third column is where a lot of customization will take place as you can select up to 3 level 2 perks to switch between. Again nothing you wouldn't see on another legendary, these perks will be pricey as they offer the most customization. As for the level 3 perk, these would be the big ones that cost a lot, but they will make your weapon your own. Once the perks have been chosen they are locked and can't be changed. As for damage modifiers (arc/solar/void) and renaming the weapon, I think this should happen only once you've upgraded it all the way and the gun is truly yours Or maybe you'll be able to purchase the damage mods at anytime but they should be quite expensive as they do offer a great advantage over regular kinetic damage. - You would purchase a blank gun frame from the gunsmith for a large amount of glimmer (depending on the weapon) and when upgrading it would need to spend weapon parts, glimmer and/or ascendents to unlock the open perks. Perks would be obtained many ways; Nightfalls, Raids/Iron Banner(exclusive perks?), faction/vanguard packages, decryptions and of course you could buy some basic one from the vendor. Equipping the perk would come at a cost, and once it's been equipped its locked in. Please let me know how this all sounds, I'm personally interested in how the community feels about this being a possibility. If the response stays as positive as it has been this may one day be a thing, so please sound off bellow, and try to be as constructive an helpful as possible OP below --------------------------------------------------- Ok so here's my idea, what if instead of grinding VoG/CE for that one weapon over and over why not offer us the option to create out own weapons!? I'm talkin fully customizable, for example: The gunsmith would sell the weapon frame, and you could chose whatever style you wanted for whatever gun, it would cost a hefty amount of glimmer an a decent amount of weapons parts, it would start as an common and as you upgrade it, it will progress all the way up to exotic. You would also be able to purchase damage modifiers for it (solar/arc/void) for a fair price (probably a lot of glimmer and some mats) and when new DLC comes out increasing the max damage limit you could upgrade it to that level. Then as you gain experience with the gun, instead of unlocking predetermined perks you could purchase the perks you want to have on your gun so that instead of having to decide which gun has more favourable perks you can create your own monstrosity. I think this will help a lot because people always try to find the gun with the best perks, and them everyone wants it, xur sells it, then people whine and complain. This way no 2 custom guns will be the same an instead of relying on RNG for good drops you'll earn the ability to create something better. And of course once you've upgraded it all the way you would be allowed to add a custom shader (seriously, this needs to be a thing) to the gun, you can choose the style and colours for your shader Obviously certain perks would be more expensive than others so that you couldn't just make a gjallahorn with whatever you have lying around. And once it's been maxed out, you would be able to RENAME your new baby, perhaps even putting in a category above exotic (mythic). I think this would really give the game a nudge in the right direction, being able to have full control of the customization process is what will make people keep playing this game. Honestly I would spend more time (and have a lot more fun) making my own guns than running tired content again and again for some sub par legendary. Please, everyone. Let me know what you think of this idea in the comments below, good or bad. I know bungie employees will read this an if it stays near the top of the page they will pay attention
