Ouroboros and Weapon balance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causality http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_loop Since I picked this game up, I've seen nothing but nerf posts in this forum crying out for the slow rot of each weapon category. Both Fusion Rifles and Auto Rifles have seen an untimely demise, and with the recent patch to Special Ammo, over the consecutive games I played I saw a massive drop in Shotguns and a spike in Sniper Rifle usage. Even the Invective has not popped up as much as I expected it to following the Ammo rework. Here's the problem with the constant nerfing we've been getting: It's being done to appease people who essentially cry about EVERYTHING that can kill them. As a result, when ARs were nerfed we moved to hand cannons. X person gets killed by hand cannons, comes here and cries out for a hand cannon nerf. Odds are these people are hypocrtical as well, in that they're likely the same people who said Thorn was too weak for the work you had to do to get it. Meanwhile, when Special Ammo was nerfed, people such as myself and many others started playing a conservative sniper game. I've personally seen more sniper rifles than any other Special since the patch. We basically have an Ouroboros Effect: Weapon gets nerfed, player base moves to another weapon, the bad players cry, and the cycle repeats. The last game I saw this happen in was Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and it effectively turned the game into a Sniper circle-jerk. Basically the game devs are starting a vicious cycle by listening to a vocal minority that wants the game to be entitled to them. they want to be catered to instead of actually getting better. Admittedly, I get my ass kicked in Crucible a bit. However, I don't always make a full effort, and a lot of times my BIGGEST contributor to my deaths is outright lag. Personally, I feel like a guy being able to run two circles around me while I pump shotgun rounds into him before I fall over for no apparent reason, is a FAR bigger problem than whatever weapon he apparently killed me with at that particular moment. One nerf here and there? That's understandable. However, when you have a group of people CONSTANTLY wanting to nerf something every time it's used, it becomes cancerous. It will end up getting to a point where only one class of weapon is truly viable, because the others have had the nerfs stack up and weigh them into obscurity. What people fail to realize is that these adjustments, nerfs, etc. add up. One small number, on top of another, and then another, quickly becomes massive. Eventually you're going to end up with a gun that shoots marshmallows, and if that's why you're here, then you don't need to be playing. Another thing: Strategies typically have a reliable counter to them. Sniper beats shotgun at range, hand cannon is better than AR if you're precise, etc. However the person BEHIND the weapon is what makes that happen. Be a better player behind the weapon and you shouldn't have anything to complain about.
