The experiment still needs peer review and re-verification but it appears NASA may have accidentally created a warp bubble inside one of the engines that it was testing. Last I heard the science team is aware of the possibility of atmospheric heating and they are going to run a test in a vacuum in order to either confirm or rule this out.
