Fireteam X: Episode 3: Countdown

Episode Three: Countdown Toland watched as his team geared up, more intrigued with Kabr than Dredgen, when he asked why he was only taking one weapon, a twisted hand cannon. This earned Toland a glare, convincing him not to pursue the subject further. Kabr was a more interesting matter, wearing armor of a bronzed quality, not unlike that of the Vex, he definitely stood out the most among the three of them. He had what looked like a cross between a Vex slap rifle and a fusion rifle slung across his back, as well as what looked like a shield, which Toland couldn't understand why anyone would carry into battle this day and age. Toland shook his head, he had to think of his current problem, he had no weapon, as Shadow Price was probably being gnawed on by a thrall in the Hellmouth. He remembered the scroll the Speaker had given him as a gift before he had left them, he unraveled it, and smiled. _______________________________________ Dredgen looked up from polishing his Thorn, hearing a clatter of tools as Toland tinkered with an assortment of oddities, using a base model for a scout rifle, as well as what disturbingly looked like animal bones. He glanced at the hulking titan of to the side, staring into space, wondering what makes him tick. After all, if you were going to run a suicide mission, you should probably know who you're dying besides. He turned to Toland, "I thought that Exo's didn't shut up, why won't this one talk?" The warlock shook his head, "Not Exo, human, but definitely more of a machine" he seemed amused "you've never heard of Kabr? The legend of the Vault of Glass?" "No, I can't say I have..." Dredgen never took his eyes off the Titan, who was making noises similar to a Vex minotaur about to pounce. He was about to say something, but the door opened before he could finish, and the Speaker walked through. "All of you ready?" He asked. "Exactly why didn't you destroy thes blueprints?" Toland said, turning, finally showing what looked like a horrid combination of rifle and animal bone. "I did" the speaker replied, "however, a guardian found your journal hidden in your studies." Toland chuckled, "If Rahool found out that this wasn't destroyed, his face would turn a deep shade of purple from seeing too much red!" Dredgen holstered Thorn, impatient to get the mission over with. "ready" he muttered. Kabr nodded "ready". Toland slung his new pulse rifle, Bad Juju, across his back; "ready!" The speaker spoke his final words to the three, "Good Luck..." None of them would see him again. _______________________________________ To be continued... I would like to dedicate this to my Great-Aunt Marcia, who died a few days ago, she was a great, nice, and funny lady. Next Chapter: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/106933347/0/0 Table of Contents: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/114713352/0/0
