Is there a reason you provide sniper rifles then mandate we cannot snipe?
Your recent modification to the Archon Priest Night Fall mandates CQB. Sniping results in lack of game progression. The forum is alight with speculation as to your reasons: get closer; enemy cannot shoot back; too far away; etc.
For the sake of my education, kindly enlighten me the reason that was corrected. I would have thought you would have Nerf'd sniper rifle range or something of the like. That has been your pattern of behavior. However I am still confused as to who complained about sniping the Vex...
Last time I played, they have HobGoblins (snipers by definition and they also have very effective sniper rifles) and no lack of precision.
If you choose to ignore my question, that is your right. If you choose to answer it kindly remember I am not lacking in education!
EDIT: thanks to everyone who noted the change and responded. I hope Bungie realizes we take the game seriously also and only want it to improve.

People choose to complain about the easiest nightfall of the bunch and act like it's ok. Then when people with sense complain about legit BS encounters like omni with arc burn we get told we suck lol.
-
bro, just rocket him a few times and hes down, archon is one of the easiest NF to beat
-
I didn't have any problem with sniper rifles last night.
-
I was playing the nightfall with a guy who had not done any nightfalls in a long time because lack of a team, and we were near the big rock and it reset on us, so I think if all are on or near Pride rock then it resets. Found that out after first wave

Bungie twitter stated the change was unintentional

Dear Bungie, Stop making unannounced changes that eliminate strategies players have developed after playing hundreds of hours of repetitive content. God forbid someone find a way to solo one of the high level activities. You'll just have to shut that down. Can you please, please, please just post the way you actually want us to play your game so that we can avoid wasting all of our time? Just write it down. What guns can we use and in what activities? Where should we stand in the fight? How many teammates should we have? Hey, I have an idea: Why don't you just take over our controllers when we spawn in and just finish the activity for us? Then we can play exactly as you want, and we avoid those pesky sniper fests that are making you guys so uncomfortable.
-
I didn't notice anything different.
-
Update: Just as I thought, the response was tweeted! My original quote: "If you choose to ignore my question, that is your right. If you choose to answer it kindly remember I am not lacking in education!" Now I will ask: what is the purpose of the FeedBack Forum if Bungie does not respond to valid questions?
-
Played this nightfall/strike the same way I always have. Nothing new to report. Did not notice anything different or more difficult. Neither did the other 2 teammates. Not sure how this glitch makes the run more difficult but our style of play cleared the area quite easily. No sniping from another zipcode, just using cover.

I'm just going to leave this here:
Recent changes to the Winter’s Run Strike are unintentional. We’re looking into it. More on this topic, soon.
11:04 AM Apr 21st via TweetDeck http://twitter.com/Bungie/status/590576802713706496 Keep in mind that this was posted shortly after the start of a normal business day where Bungie is located.

It's a fair question, I hope Bungie responds (unlikely as that may be) Sneaking in "fixes" to levels with no hint or preview has become a tiresome practice that Bungie is obviously doing to avoid an outcry, which they inevitably receive anyway. This one is also another tedious example of being forced to play a certain way for no other reason than Bungie just doesn't like you playing a level a certain way. Sniping isn't glitching, or cheesing, it's a strategy. You stay far from the enemy and remove them one by one until you can proceed. I'm tired of Bungie dictating what is "fun" in this game.
-
That's obviously a bug. If they didn't want us to snipe all they had to do is let enemies spawn there or take that area out of the darkness zone's range

I have no problem with them fixing true cheese. Like when you user to be able to k ock Atheon off the ledge therfore avoiding the boss fight completely. But useing the given environment and weapons to your advantage to avoid dammage is not cheeting its being smart. Especially when lightswitch and burns are active which put you in greater danger during CQ fighting. Whats next? Only flat maps with no rocks or other cover? And the fact that they repeatedly sneak these changes in with no comment as to a ligitmate reason other then forcing players to play one way and one way only is chicken shit on thier part.
-
Wait, what about the rock that sticks out right over the vex spawn area? Right in front of where the hobgoblins spawn area(same altitude). We cant use that rock anymore or just the one way back and high up where u first get into that area from the tunnel?
-
I'm frankly just tired of this pattern. What's the point of even customising your dude anymore? Why play the way you want to when you can play the way Bungie intended! "You wanna go explore that cliff and get a vantage point on the enemies? Sorry. We want you to use your sniper point blank, against rows and rows of minotaurs who somehow have developped their own form of radiance." "What? The door in some instances gets glitchy and locks you out of the rest of the nightfall? Just return to orbit. Isn't it better this way?" Who knows, maybe they'll ban rocket launchers for the Crota fight? FUN FUN FUN!
-
Bump.

Wow! There are tons of threads on this topic this AM, and I want to help keep this one alive. I think Bungie needs to see that most players are upset about this "glitch," except maybe for those that believe anything short of rushing into mobs guns blazing is "cheesing" (Kudos to you if you can pull this off, but it's not my style.). Nice transparency in the patch notes, BTW, Bungie (cough, cough, Swords of Crota on Earth and Moon).

What this guy is trying to say is.... You know the rock that everyone snipes from during The Winter's Run nightfall. The one where you let dinklebot unlock the door... remember? Where the waves of Vex show up as the door is hacked... you know, in The Winter's Run strike on Venus. I tried doing it solo this morning... I ran down there, released Dinklebot, ran back up to the sniping rock, killed the Vex that had spawned, eagerly waited for the next wave.... then waited some more... then went back down there to see if there was an enemy i forgot. There was nothing. Released ghost again, Vex showed up again, First wave with Minotaurs again, I had to play closer to the enemy to get the next wave to spawn. Something was changed, for sure.
-
You can snipe. Just not there LOL.
-
Using the weapons given to us should not result in these non understanding changes. It's not a open world game if you start putting restrictions on how far i have to be back to snipe the enemy that can also snipe me. And how could you guys in the lab there think this was a good idea to do to players? We have space magic and triple jumps wth is going on with you guys? Go dictate how the worlds should be designed with invisible barriers to keep players moving forward like Mario bros. 1. Smh

When have they EVER answered a question? Don't hold your breath.

Edited by ironBill: 4/21/2015 12:27:08 PMWhat the OP is referring to is now there is a slight line along the small step-down heading into the narrow bridge area carrying you to the ship in the second wave area. If you decide to cross the field and climb to the ship to snipe, the timer resets. You cannot progress to the next stage unless you play inside that line. It wasn't that big a deal to play, but I too am wondering about that. On the one hand it removed you from any enemy fire, but it seems an easier fix would be to have the enemies advance on the position. Edit: When I saw that line I knew what it was. I was hoping they didn't put a similar rope up on top. If it comes to the place where you have to play Nightfall on lightswitch nose-to-nose in waves of majors, that's asking too much.
