Kids on destiny
Hello, I am 13 years old and I play destiny on the Ps4, everything I know about destiny I learned from my cousins. The game is a lot easier to understand than I thought. But here is my problem, I am afraid to join raid groups. I am a level 31 hunter but my problem is my voice, I am afraid that I cannot join raid groups because people will hate me because I am a kid. It takes a really long time to for my cousins to find players willing to do the raids with us so to make it easier we have been doing 5 man vault of glass raids on normal.(we barely ever do crota's end because none of us have any experience doing it) So pretty much I don't do the raids very often since all five of us have to be online and one of our members does the raids on reset day so it is rare when he joins us. Long story short, I want to do the raids but I am afraid because of my voice. so here is my question. Do you people reading this hate children/teens especially for raids? Don't mind doing raids with teens/children? Or do you purposely avoid raids with teens/children? please post your answers. Update: Thank you all for your tips and for you offers in doing the raids. it has really helped me and my raid group. And it has helped me gain the confidence to do raids without my cousins. I personally don't care about someone's age as long as they're not a prick or a know-it-all, or both.

9 RepliesI'm 13 and i raid with people from 7 to 40. Some simple tips to raiding with people older than you are.. - Don't rant, adults classify "squeakers" as a little kid who talks way too much - Be friendly and open about your age. Almost all older gamers will openly accept kids that are decent - DO NOT blast music. People have done that and the older players absolutely hate it - Don't make long excuses about how you died. Just thank whoever revives you if someone does - Lastly just enjoy the game and don't take it too seriously. Be brave guardian

I will tolerate one kid at most im afraid, I have nothing against kids in general and if they can keep quite then it's all good but often they just don't stop and are way too loud and annoying.

8 RepliesOk, I'm 41. Here's how to deal with older groups if you're a kid: 1. Be concise. If you have something to say, keep it short and relevant. Don't ramble on, stream-of-consciousness-like. You're 13 and programmed that way. I understand. Just be aware of it. 2. You don't know everything. Just trust me. And not everyone in the group wants to hear all the rumors and stuff you read online. 3. Silence is golden. Some older gamers can multi-task well, some can't. And anyway, if you're blathering (see #1), you're tying up the chat when someone may be wanting to say something raid-relevant. 4. Turn off your music. I know it "pumps you up" or whatever, but it's a distraction and sounds like shit over chat. 5. Take the trash out, do the dishes, feed the dog, etc. do your chores first, and make sure you have the time to finish what you start. No one wants to hear "I gotta go eat dinner, cover me while I'm afk". Do those things--hell, do SOME of those things--and I've got no problem raiding with you. It's not the sound of your voice, it's how it's used. Stay strong, Guardian.

It's sad to hear that your afraid to join raid groups just because of your voice. Most people I've raided with have been respectful to kids who's voice has not yet broken, on a few conditions; the issue is that a lot of 'squeakers' are immature, loud, monopolise the mic, tell everyone what to do etc. That is what I would describe a 'squeaker'. If you're mature, co-operative, let other people speak and don't burst people's ear drums then I'm sure a lot of players wouldn't mind. I would not describe this a squeaker. Your problem isn't your voice, it's those players who are unwilling to accept you because of it.

I'll admit that I tend to avoid younger crowds in most games but, as long as you're polite I'm usually fine. If it makes you feel better I get mistaken for a young boy in chats all the time, I guess my voice sounds boyish xD. From the comments it looks like you'll be fine. Thanks for sharing the honesty. Sometimes even adults forget that judging before knowing can be unfair.

What's your system? I will always help people out now since I have completed my collections until HoW. I have helped a bunch of teams just running sword or being an extra 32 and a lot are younger teens or younger trying to get some first raids done. 1 ReplyIf I was to Sherpa you all would you listen and follow instruction? Would you start goofing off and playing around right at the important parts? Would you blame each other for your own faults leading to deaths? Do you have maxed legendary tracking launchers and primaries? Do you all constantly chatter about nothing and silly shit? If you can answer those with the correct answers then I'd happily run you through it!
