Sniping is dead
After the long install times of the patch I strolled into the crucible, expecting a relatively shotty free game, and indeed, my vision became reality, but as I go to pullout my beloved LDR I noticed that my usual sniping playstyle was doomed because of the scarcity of special. Each crate gives only 4 shots, and usually are found once a life (for me anyway) and there are usually only four crates on the map that take about 1.5 mins to spawn (again, for me anyway) making all special weapon gunfights a rare instance. Some of you may rejoice. Yes! No pesky blink-shotgunners! No preadeth's revenge's body shotting me to death! A more primary based Pvp environment. But wait a minute, what is going to dominate crucible now? More than they ever have before? Cough *thorn* cough *last word* cough *pulse rifles* cough *no land beyond* jk but the others are valid. I know bungie are trying hard to fix the crucible, and I know there will always be whiners, and I regret to say it but today I am one of said whiners. I think that overall bungie are definitely going in the right direction, but snipers needn't have got nerfed and the potency of the exotic hand cannons, pulse rifles ( and nlb :P) need's to be addressed.

Still got killed by shotty majority of the time I really don't feel the patch was that drastic. You start out with 8 shots as is, pick up a create your at 12 that's plenty for a sniper till the next box drops. I used preaydiths all match never ran out once. I just used a more careful shot processing I think was the point.

I do just fine with my Efrideet's. I just don't pull it out until I've picked up at least one ammo crate after spawn.

7 RepliesI feel like the only one who was saying this for weeks. Yea less ammo is great for the shotgun problem, but it creates a new sniping problem. I love my LDR too. The lack of shots sucks

I dunno, I still rock my sniper quite consistently. The I like the patch, stops people from camping choke points, and makes it feel more like halo 3 where getting "power" weapons really turns the tide. I know this game isn't halo 3 of course. But I still love the update.

There are still snipers and shotties around but there are other weapons now which is great

But I don't camp with my sniper in the first place. I sit a little bit away from said zone me and my team are currently capturing and I pick off guys coming at us currently and if they get too close to snipe I switch over to Bad Juju. Sniping is definitely the most fun on the Anomaly on the moon. There isn't anywhere to camp there but you can snipe all over the map. Lots of fun.

4 RepliesJust my opinion here. I'm not a great PVP player. I think sniper camping is just as bad as shotgun camping. Both are means to get easy kills with limited chances of being killed in the process.

2 RepliesSniping is not dead, I am an avid sniper and crucible is much better now. It prevents clowns from sitting back the whole game camping with their sniper. Now those players have to actually go into the fight and use the sniper more situationally. Same goes with the shotgun.

1 ReplyThorn, Red Death, and TLW were already dominating Crucible. Only everyone with them also had a Felwinter's Lie ready to go at all times, or a sniper for when you think you could get that TLW bitch at long distance. Adapt.

My experience was a bit different: Almost like nothing has changed. Good number of special ammo on start of match. Things were business as usual, shotty guys doing their thing, and snipers theirs. Although yea, snipers were bit less visible than shotty. but maybe only those who used sniper like a scout rifle ..it was less of that yes.

Bungie is accomplishing whay they set out to which is to make primary gunfights the bulk of the encounters. No primaries need to be touched from here on out unless they are buffs. TLW can easily be countered by keeping distance, thorn by strafing, pulse rifles are pretty well rounded. If you know there is a tlw user conserve your special ammo for capturing points and then use your shotty or try to stay in groups. I agree that snipers are prolly taking a bit of an unfair hit with the patch but I believe the ones it will affect most are the final round users which is a good thing.

9 RepliesThe reason people say that TLW is harder to use is because it is actually harder to use I remember the last time xur sold it everyone in every crucible game was using it ( OK I'm exaggerating but you get my point ) and the vast majority were useless with it. They way I think they could fix the sniper problem is specifically give snipers more ammo per crate that would be nice
