The Hype begins. -------------------------------------------------- Part One: Destiny the Hype!
IMO Destiny is one of the BEST and WORST games ever created.
------- Section A: Shooter or RPG?!? When Destiny hit the market, gamers had their itchy trigger fingers eager to see what fate would befall the long anticipated title. Promising "Out of this world" Graphics and Gameplay, the thought of Halo meets Call of Duty had people eager to gear up. Now the Beta was the Beta it's the past and there is no sense crying over spilled milk.. or blood.. or alien mucus.. Whatever let's just focus on the RELEASED Version. So in a Crowded market following the Successful launch of GTA5 by Rockstar Gaming... and many Recent Call of Duty Titles... Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Rogue. Bungie and Activision combined to make a game comparable to Borderlands 2.. which had a "Pre-sequel" launch around the time Destiny hit shelves. Having earned my Platinum trophy on both GTA5 and Borderlands2 I can make a good analysis. The RPG side of Destiny is weak.. The story is unlike a morgan freeman narrative in that its long winded but boring and hard to listen to at times. We all love Nathan Phillion but maybe more of him less blah blah blah. The RPG side succeeds in building 3 Strong Classes each diverse and balanced but similar. The Vague story allows the imagination to wander and create a discussion rather than being extensive and in-depth like say Mass Effect which has files on files of pointless data... yawn. So the RPG is a bit weak since... The classes lack true differences like in Diablo or WoW where the skill tree you lvl allows you different options. The story is a bit weak and the whole RPG side of Destiny leaves us wanting more.. overhyped as an RPG we are left craving side sorry missions to earn cool ghosts or sparrows.. shaders anything. RPG? 6/10 Needs fiddley bits for fun. The Shooter side I enjoy alot. I find the weapons are good and not toooo crazy. They are not as crazy as borderlands and not as mundane as Call of Duty.. but hopefully we can see something like weapon mods or simple skins to improve the gunplay.. coloured tracer rounds?!? The shooter gameplay is smooth and keeps me coming back for more even at lvl 32.. It's fun that the challenge exists even going against lvl 14's you can die. It's not like your so OP people cant touch you making the whole story repeatable while I grind for experience or help my low level friends. They did amazing at not making something to much like CoD but still capturing that PvP feeling in the arenas. CoD players may not know what their missing if they haven't picked up Destiny. I enjoy the Shooter element alot so I wont trash it.. the RPG side was the bigger let down. Shooter Side 9/10 - No Grenade Launcher! ------ Section B: Weapons and Gear Now were into Destiny's Gear system. This part fails partially due to the RPG element's failure. Firstly the weapons are "Alright" we gamers do enjoy our Elemental Primary Weapons but wish their was more... I like that Legendary Weapons can have different stats while having the same name. I have a few Full Auto Pulse rifles I like. The Exotic Weapons are neat but should all have 3 stats not just 2. I like my exotics as they are but regret that Bungie is slow to learn things so.. like when you upgraded your exotics and had to re-level then.... Bungie FAILED BADLY when it came to mistakes. They have made up for alot of them but people who got this game early got hosed. Like not putting the little dash beside the Light levels on gear. Took me 2 weeks to clue in I had to lvl my gear to lvl my light. THEN... they updated it to show the Maximum Light an item can give you. Toooo slow.. Bungies to slow with reacting. "The weapons in this game are over all 8/10" Leaving us craving a bit of customization and a few more options. The Exotics are ok but need a little tweaking and the Exotic gear like many things is getting better... but it feels like a joke that the Helmets are the best... Destiny needed a system where the expansions would allow some form of armour mod. So that towards the final expansions you could choose your mods.. Like Solar Resistance or Stun Resistance. The Gear is force fed to you and the Vendors are a Joke... why even have them almost?? So i can buy a heavy weapon at lvl 2?? Or so we all can get the same lame shaders and player cards??? Maybe some shaders and Etc Based on all my Grimoire Cards?!?!? What the heck man.. Come on Guys... "Destiny's gear is lacking 7/10." Section C: Bungie and Activision. Soo yeah. There are 2 companies and they made a game together... all legalities aside: Activision ROCKS!!!!! I been playing Video games since Commodore64 and it's great to see a company survive the times!!! Activision brought the vision to this game as far as I am concerned. Years ago I had an idea for a game like Drakes Fortune only based in the solar system, and this game "kind of" satisfies that need. I'd love some shields and more cool weapons but you sometimes have to learn to appreciate what you can get. Bungie has years of success and are a good company but todays gamers are very demanding, needy and hard to keep satisfied for long. Takes a while for Bungie to change things for the better and they are good at messing up simple tasks while making the impossible look simple. Bungie like Rockstar focuses on repeating its strengths and playing off it success to build their next title. Taking risks is risky and Bungie used its experience to build a balanced game with Activision and I think they delivered. Rockstar titles all have the same problems like.. slow rotating characters and respawning with no weapon equipped.. Bungie has made efforts to involve its clients in the game development and working with Activision made a successful game. I think Activision should be given credit and this reminds me of many of the high quality games I have seen in the last 30 years. Im no fan of big corporate entities, but this was a good matching that lead to a Success. "Bungie gets an 9/10 for imagination and cooperating to make this title." "Activision gets a 10/10 for continuing to shine." ------- Please continue to enjoy and read the Remainder of my review entitled; #DestinyInsideOut - Part 2 continues in; #DestinyTheReality Thanks to all, #PoutineLover of Gods of the Golden Age.
