About that Thunderlord....
So I just picked up a Thunderlord on the nightfall today and it doesn't look much better than some of the other machine guns...I see that it's very sought after and was wondering what makes it stand out? Is it worth the exotic slot? What other weapons do you all like to run with it? All thoughts and opinions are welcome!

It's got some kind of arc firefly effect where precision killed enemies will sometimes explode in an arc blast. Nifty against Thrall.

1 ReplyTitan+Ruin Wings+ Thunderlord....enough said. Thunderlord is---by far----the games best MG. Its only problem is that is NOT a primary weapon----so PvP players tend to shy away from it----and its not Ice Breaker or Gjallarhorn. The range and regenerationg ammo of IceBreaker is tough to part with in end-game PvE play....and Gjallarhorn has just become a cult weapon. The Sum of All Fears and Desires. Yes its the games best rocket launcher....but its hardly the God Gun that people want to make it out to be. So few people wind up spending enough time PLAYING with Thunderlord to realize just how devastatign a weapon it really is. Because---by the time most people get it----they already have loadout habits they don't want to break.

You're probably not going to use it much. I use it in crucible because I heard it's basically a scout rifle. It's pretty g bro, sample it.

I love Thunderlord but don't use it nearly enough. It gets a run out against Atheon but unfortunately not in much else, even Arc nightfalls. The reason I don't use it in NF is that I have an Against All Odds with Arc burn and field scout which is basically the same but easier to control and allows me to use Patience & Time which is brutal in NF. If they actually mixed up the burns rather than same burns on same strikes we would be forced to use a bigger variety of weapons. End game content forces us all to use the same loadouts to succeed. I'm hoping Thunderlord will play a big part in the next raid

I have it and I never use it, even for arc burn nightfalls. Just always seems like I have a better option to use something else instead.

I love it for arc burns. The amount of damage it puts out in a whole clip tears through anything that needs to get torn through

It has insane auto aim and you'll notice you hit alot of headshots in pve. Also in pvp it's a 4 body or headshot kill and will rek a group of people. Got a slayer medal the other day on firebase delfi with it

It's really good for arc burn but I don't use it for much else except sometimes vog or PVP

The last omnigul with arc burn nightfall, me and 2 others with this weapon took her down in less than 2mins

Best LMG in the game. Good choice for PvP. For PvE, it's usually not worth the exotic slot unless you're doing an Arc Burn mission.

I got the IB machine gun with perfect perks and it doesn't touch thunderlord IMO. I don't know why, but it kills people so much quicker even if they're not head shots. The only downfall is I have to switch out my weapons before picking up he ammo which gets me killed at times.

6 RepliesSorry man, Thunderlord isn't worth what little hype it has. Its exotic perk just isn't that good and it doesn't justify taking up your exotic slot. Just about any high impact MG can do what Thunderlord can.

5 RepliesUseless outside of Arc Burn. Get a Dead Orbit LMG with good Stability and Thunderlord is automatically outclassed.

Edited by GemCutter: 4/7/2015 8:22:16 PMHidden perk that causes arc firefly explosions about 20% of the time. Thing is beast. With weapons of light and times vengeance it totally mashes Atheon. I think it was doing somewhere around 3000 per crit with both, and no high impact HMG puts out 60 rounds as fast as TLord with the lightning rounds perk unlocked. Can use field scout to reload and then put perfect balance on, still fire the whole 60 on one burst, fast and controllable enough to do half crits, half body shots on Atheon. And finally, It's the only exotic Xur never sold.

60 rounds with field scout. A ROF that rapidly increases over time and high damage along with explosive kills. That machinegun is great for killing ultras and bosses.

Extreme damage in Arc Nightfalls Being able to have the power of slow RoF, but can get up to High RoF with same damage Arc firefly explosions. Will more than likely be killer in HoW.
