Weekly update feedback 4.2.15

Firstly, the title made me laugh. Go ahead. Tell your boss what to do. I'm sure they will understand... /s
This week at Bungie, we’re dancing ever closer to the House of Wolves.
So long as it is over 2 weeks out, I don't care. I've got my 32. I still need some shards and energies to complete my ultimate 32 though for day 1 raid into HoW. That and I'm studying up the various missions on the Fallen to be better prepared against them. Particularly though? I can't deny I'm disappointed I can't seem to get the cutscene for MEETING the Awoken to work. I've tried most missions on Venus just to make sure I covered them all and nothing... oh well though. I look it up on youtube all the time for additional clues. (I'm asking if you can look into it btw)
This month, there will come a day when we’ll reveal a release date for the trials that await you
Just make it mid next month please. I really do mean that too. Next month to the end or early June would be fantastic...
For example, we had a bug where players weren’t doing damage to Minotaurs with the Relic shield. Turns out that the complicated hit test we use to detect a melee hit just missed the combatant because of the long-legged shape of its body.
It's good to see the community issues being addressed. All the same, that particular glitch was pretty funny for me because the moment I realized I couldn't hit Oracles or the minotaurs I laughed, immediately jumped up and said, "Hey minotaurs, better start that teleporting because you are trying to catch a birdie now." and simply made the callouts/killed harpies for super energy. It's the way my mind works. I can't damage something? I can't dodge/evade, make callouts, drop the relic for a few seconds and do damage that way, ect.. I don't think about those things. Just switch to backup plan after backup plan. Someone needs help? Run distraction.
The Cerberus Vae III Strike is arguably the longest and hardest Strike in the game. It has one the lowest completion rates of any of the Strikes.
To be completely honest? As a competitor in the vanguard area? I not only want more strikes like Cerberus Vae III, but I want them a lot harder. I absolutely love fighting against military designed enemies. It was the same in Halo and Planetside which kept me around so much. You can't beat fighting regimented and smart movement troops for me. Even the tank part where I run the risk of nightfall instant death, I will continually go back and revise how I approach that situation. I know my opinion is without a doubt the least favorite, but I would never trade such a strike. It was the only strike I didn't solo when I first saw it in nightfall. Beat it with a friend of mine because I couldn't legitimately kill all the Cabal and Valus. Now I have other options available to me in the form of enemy movement restriction zones, but I also know that is why they were given to those environments. For those who want to complete the strike but simply can't handle all the enemies with a complete fireteam. In short, I don't mind it being the least completed and I want the middle ground solution so everyone will complete the strike against the Cabal. Maybe redefine the spawn zones and let players go to the tank area by normal patrol if need be with the idea being the tank holds a secret prize and code needed to get into the ship. I dunno. I'd rather step into a war with the Cabal then see Phogoth or this weeks nightfall. There's a reason Mars is my favorite planet to patrol when it pops up in the vanguard bounty board (which should also be looked at. I very RARELY see cabal majors, my favorite bounty, pop up on the 360).
When it’s appeared as the Nightfall, it’s actually had the lowest completion rate of any Strike activity in the game.
Not many people like getting one shotted by a tank. Just saying. It's a long struggle for them and to get instantly killed by a tank when they thought the tank blast would hit the tree or rock is definitely one prone to outburst would be my guess as to why. Besides that though? Angry plus Phalanx makes even me go, "Why isn't armor piercing rounds or another modifier not able to counter that? That's a lot of health to dwindle down to zero when only doing base damage." Still though, they are really slow and when you know the strike you can pull out a sniper and wait for the breathe out/shield shift away from the body and it opens them up to the headshot bonus.
The Dust Palace Strike isn’t quite as hard
I'll be able to have an opinion on that when I get access to it.
We addressed this by reducing the strength for several of the major combatants
Uhhh... well, ok. I'm pretty sure many on the forum aren't concerned about the final encounter. The thing they are concerned about, from what I've seen, is the path leading up to the final encounter. It's like Crota. Once you know how to beat Crota? Crota isn't THAT difficult... it's getting to him is the issue. Honestly, I'd increase the rewards for such a strike. If people knew they could get additional upgrade material for when HoW comes out like more ascendant energy or shards and that material could then be used to upgrade themselves to lvl XX? Or possibly x3 glimmer to naturally drop from enemies during the darkness zones? I've always seen Destiny as the game where players will inevitably ask, "is the rewards worth it?" If yes, they'll do it till they are bored. If no? They typically won't. I have a very high liking to this game because of it's rich lore and I can see where previous sci-fi and fantasy elements were placed. I see the Fallen as the same Tsuranuanni Empire politics from Raymond E Feists series called "The Riftwar Saga" which comprised of three books. It's always been an interesting concept to take Houses of loyalty, name the roles like House of Kings and very easily attach a description of, "My House produces leaders. What does yours produce?" as a challenge and statement of those who would be in that House. Further then that? These are scavengers and rovers with their pikes and as such, you never really find them settling on any planet, never really looking for anything besides the next challenge and ruling themselves in such a hierarchy. Each member, loyal to the respective house, and should they fail? should they lose? Inner house against house conflict. In video games? That means Fallen fighting Fallen. In books? That means the Empire respectively finds Houses which will not wage war on themselves... but will also not support such a cause. In Feist 1st book? The Magician: Apprentice? That showed a massive ten thousand army reduced to small forces of a few thousand due to the War party, comprised of four Houses, being reduced to one. The Warleader's Blue Wheel party. Have that happen? And you can't achieve the conquest. Can't achieve the conquest? Watch as another house goes and plays politics on the road to guaranteeing more land, more resources, and more victories just to get support from other Houses until they get fed up with the next leadership caste. I'm not going to lie. I know Destiny is going to have a very long ten years of conflict in it. I'm just curious, like those books, what the story behind it is.
The restrictions we’re putting on their accounts are temporary and apply only to the activities where they were chronically idle.
Temporary solution. Ok. I guess we'll find out what the next step is.
If the affected players keep up this behavior after the restrictions lapse, we will apply stronger and (eventually) permanent restrictions on their accounts.
I understand the desire to remove such things from the game, but to eventually say they will be banned for such actions is not ok. The logic behind this is not going to be something widely accepted and to be frank, a pretty big shot to take towards gamers if this system is automated.
We will never act on player reports alone, but we use those reports to find areas and individuals where our automated detection systems aren’t working correctly.
You better have at least ten different inputs to you about a player. The last thing you need is to have gamers coming online legitimately to find their accounts frozen from being able to do matchmaking. If that is the case? Let them go in with friends. Let them be involved without matchmaking. Or allow them to come on here and post for a rebuttal with a guaranteed review of the situation on your end. Use the rest of this thread for building upon the thoughts above and whether you agree or disagree with a why. Please no, "I like/dislike that" without at least saying why...
