The Great Invasion Chapter Ten, Part Two -The Northern Wall, The Battlefield, 2:12 PM- Falcon had just taken off the head of a Captain when a Minotaur charged at him and threw an enraged punch at him. It missed by a few inches but Falcon was already even more enraged by the attempted attack. He rushed at the Minotaur and fired his Hard Light into it's face as they both went down to the ground. When they hit the ground, the Minotaur's face was gone and it's circuits were spilling out of the hole where it's head was supposed to be. Sapphire watched Falcon's fury as she tore through a Hydra's shield and primed a magnetic grenade. She stuck it to the Hydra's eye and watched it explode into pieces. Meanwhile Crimson was flinging arc novas into the oncoming horde of enemies, taking down a few fireteams with two novas. He finally ran out of light to fuel his arc blade and began firing his Mida Multi Tool into the horde. Falcon charged at a Hobgoblin and kicked it to the ground. He put his foot on it's chest and then tore it's head off. He then threw a tripmine on it and threw it into the waves of enemies coming at them. It exploded and took a few Vex and an entire Fallen fireteam, including their Captain, with it. Falcon's rage still coursed through him. He jumped into the horde of enemies and then his entire body coursed with arc energy and he flung arc novas in a circle around him, taking out every enemy in the front of the oncoming legion. He looked at the oncoming swarm of enemies and then charged into it, throwing novas into the swarm and taking out a few fireteams of Vex and Fallen. His Arc Blade died out but his light and energy continued to strengthen his furious assault. He finally retreated back to the pothole and waited for the enemy to advance. That was when a bullet rang out from a hand cannon nearby and a Hobgoblin fell down in pieces. The trio looked up to see a hunter wielding a Last Word jumping down from a ledge, into the horde of enemies below. She activated a Golden Gun midair and then fired four blazing hot rounds of pure energy into the swarm. Then, the area she fired at exploded into solar energy and took many Fallen and Vex with it. She landed right in front of a Minotaur, who she looked at and fired her Last Word straight into his eye. The Minotaur collapsed to the ground with a gaping hole where his eye was and a few Vex seemed to flinch at the death of one of their Minotaurs. She turned and jumped to the pothole and fired off more rounds into the army. Sapphire and Falcon nodded to her and fired off into the army once more, while Crimson said, "Greetings, Ruby. Good to see you again." Then Crimson crouched and fired his scout rifle into the army once more. Ruby moved up a little closer and fired into the army as well. Together, they held the army back, at least, in their sector of the wall. -The Northern Wall, Tip of the Spear, 2:25 PM- Toland and his army of warlocks finally had enough light for another Nova Cataclysm, but Toland had told them to conserve their light. Toland had an idea. He sent a few warlocks down onto the battlefield. Their orders were to wreak havoc on the enemy battalions and keep them at bay using their Voidsinging abilities. The warlocks selected then jumped off of the wall, and into the chaos below. Toland watched as one warlock activated his Radiance midair on the way down. The warlock dropped a few feet, then threw a massive Nova Bomb that split into three separate orbs and three fusion grenades into the unsuspecting armies below. One Vex goblin looked up just as a Nova Bomb orb hit his head, taking the rest of his team with him. The warlock then landed on the ground and disappeared amongst the battle. Toland knew something had to happen soon or they would lose the wall and the armies of the darkness would plunge into the city and destroy everything. Just as Toland looked to the side, a gigantic Vex Minotaur wielding a massive sword and Torch Hammer stomped out from behind a forest and began assaulting the defending guardians. The Minotaur was clad in white armor, similar to Atheon's armor, except the Minotaur's actual body was midnight black. Toland watched as the Minotaur sliced a titan into two pieces and crushed the ghost of the titan. One hunter got too close to him and he picked up the hunter and threw him onto the ground and crushed him with his heavy metallic foot. He continued to crush the defensive line of the guardians and Toland knew they had to destroy that Minotaur. They could not afford to use a Nova Cataclysm as they needed their light. Toland did not know what to do. He watched as the Minotaur sliced off the arm of a warlock. The Minotaur picked up the warlock and then stabbed him clean through the chest with his saber. The warlock then fell to the ground clutching his chest, which had a gaping hole in it. Then the Minotaur crushed the warlock's ghost with his fist and stepped over him. Toland turned his back to the battle and thought about what needed to be done as his warlock army fired their weapons down into the oncoming legions. -The Northern Wall, The Battlefield, 2:31 PM- Sapphire fired a round into the final Vandal and watched as it's head leaked out ether. Then she looked up and saw a gigantic Minotaur with armor, a sword and a giant Torch Hammer, stab a warlock right through the chest. Then he looked over at her and lowered his saber. He pointed at Sapphire and her allies and Vex appeared in front of him and started walking toward them. Sapphire looked at Falcon and Ruby and they looked back. Ruby jumped down from the ledge she was standing on and said one word, "Valtex" and then she looked at the ground and had a grim expression in her eyes. Falcon looked over at her and said, "What is Valtex?" Ruby looked up at him and said, "Valtex is the true creator and controller of the Vex. He can send Vex in at will and has the power to control their thoughts. I was barely able to escape his wrath and now that he is here, I don't know what we will do." Ruby told them about the Time Fortresses. Falcon asked Ruby how she knew about them and she told them of her capture and escape. Sapphire walked over to her and placed a hand over Ruby's shoulder. After a minute, she took her hand off of Ruby's shoulder and they all prepared to fight. Then the armies of the darkness arrived once again and they fought them back. Then, a shot rang out from a point to their right and Sapphire watched as the center of the army before them exploded and took all of the Vex and Fallen down in the center of the army. Sapphire looked to her right and saw a lone hunter crouched on a ledge, wielding a sniper rifle unknown to her. On his back he wore a Legend of Six Coyotes cloak and it flapped in the air. He noticed her looking at him, and saluted to her. Then, he strapped his sniper to his back and pulled out a hand cannon and vanished. Sapphire looked for him, but saw him nowhere. She looked back at the invasion force and continued fighting. Sapphire thought she saw a flicker of movement along the corner of her vision, but she shrugged it off. The hunter was nowhere to be seen. After a quarter of the force that Valtex had sent to kill them had been destroyed, he turned back to them and started to walk towards them slowly. They knew he was coming to kill them. They continued defending their position as Valtex slowly made his way to them. They would not be prepared to fight Valtex alone.
