I have to speak my mind.

If you ask me, this entire moddation business is getting the lot of us paranoid. It’s almost all that we talk about anymore. Last week, right before I left for vaccation, we were talking about mods, and when I get back, we are talking about mods once more. Quite frankly, people are getting obsessed with getting a mod title. I see this as a major problem; just like post-counters and short topic lists were problems in the past. When Sketch announced that there would be new mods he accidentally started this sort of contest- a contest that no one was willing to admit was really there. I also beleive it's safe to say that that all of us have gotten mod-fever, save for the mods, of course. The solution? Well, for now, sadly, there is none. Other than the fact than next time pick mods at random, otherwise we'll have people competing for the title.

 • Personally, I thing all this discussion about mods is pure idiocy. If you want to talk about mods, we could be discussing ways to help mods and make their jobs easer, not just sitting around squabbling over this stuff. Bungie will pick whoever the hell they want to be a mod, and their aint nothin any of us can do about it. I mean there's already been like what, three, four topics about this recently? There’s plenty of other things to be talking about, like this for instance ;)

 •
Posted by: Shishka I will point out that most everyone that has offered or showed interest in being a mod in these threads are not being considered. There's no point in even asking about it, because Bungie will ask who they see fit if they'll take the job.
Yes, I haven't asked to be a mod. Anyone I have seen asking I have said "You know, chances are if you ask to be a mod, they won't pick you." I would think that most people would want to be a moderator, which is good because everyone is willing to help out. Some people try to hard, though.

 • I agree, moderators are for those who just want to do good on this earth and, of course, these forums.

 • Mod Killer,.... do you just have some unspoken angst towards everyone and everything on these forums? Anyway, being a mod means being patient, tolerant, and devoted to the work that goes into it... You need to know what to ban, and what to say to set an example when you ban it.... You need to have the time to look through most threads and weed out the bad ones. There's a lot of work that goes into it... and if you want to be one just because you have the power to ban and lock threads, or because you get a custom avatar, then you don't deserve to be a moderator... so for those that want it for those reasons, don't ask. You won't get it.

 •
Posted by: The Rip Saw Look at it this way, Bungie has most likely already picked the people they will ask (or maybe they've even asked already, although I doubt they could keep it a secret for [this long) or at the very least, they have a good idea who they will ask. Asking to become a mod can therefore not convince them otherwise, quite opposite. If they had already considered it, they might view your asking as annoying and decide to reconsider. Of course, Bungie is usually more tolerant than that. That's because they are selfless, benevolant, elite, good-looking people who deserve to rule the world! • Don't worry about how Bungie makes their choices. Surely the process for becoming a BNM (Bungie.net Moderator) will be similar to becoming a BNA back in the good old days. It's a wonderful mix of nepotism, beefstick™ retention, pegboi training and a fair dose of the shaft™. Not that any of that is necessarily a good thing, but basically Bungie has a system whereby nobody in their right mind should want to be a BNA or BNM and those that do accept the request to join the ranks, quickly regret it. The microwave emulator is real, boys and girls - as is the mind control ray. There have been rumors of Bungie reverse-engineering Jobs' Reality Distortion Field, but at present, nobody can verify that. I hear the footsteps of Tiny the Trow now - I better run...

On top of that I'd have to put up with people like myself. . . I don't know who'd want a job as a moderator or why. That sort of thing is simply beyond me.
Yeah, same here. I've probably pissed mods off, that's why I wouldn't be good. Oh, well. I'll never be a mod. Woohoo! regular people rule!

 • Moderation is something I haven't been trying to obtain. I'm curious with the issue and I do my best to help, but I know that with moderation comes a restriction to speak your mind. Moderators can't tell people off, really. They're supposed to set examples. And, as you all know, I like telling people off. However, if asked I would do it. It's nothing big, I've done it before.
