All I can say is stick with it, you will get better trust me. Have been gaming around 16 years total. Destiny was my fist exposure to any type of pvp game elements. I picked up Destiny in late December, an while I still suck imo I am getting better. 102 hours invested in crucible now and have went from .3 to .95 K/D avg. Can't begin to tell you how hard it was for me to adjust, especially being an older player (41). No twitch reaction/muscle memory since I've never played pvp before.
Crucible to me really is one of the most fun experiences in Destiny. Especially so when you have some friends to team up with, and talk shit while your playing pvp matches. If you have been turned off/hate that you die too often just stick with it. So some minor advice in no particular order...
1.) Get a headset/mic - Can't stress enough how much more fun you will have, better opportunities to make new friends also.
2.) Join a clan that fits you/has the same outlook.
3.) Don't take things too seriously, just have fun and be yourself.
4.) Try and learn the maps, get comfortable with them before you move onto another set like dark below maps. Learn how to get around the maps without going through choke/high kill traffic areas.
5.) Learn how your radar works, it will save your life.
6.) Slow down, and play defensive at first. You will have a much better outcome. Don't go sprinting into an area when your radar is lit up. You will only be feeding the other team kill points.
7.) Check out some pvp/strategy vids on youtube from the crucible veterans playing this game. There is allot you can learn that will help you get better. Use the forums here for advice/tips. Lot's of really great players here to learn from.
8.) Try sticking with control matches at first, they are more forgiving to new players such as myself.
9.) Lastly grow a thick skin, someone teabags you in a match... Just laugh, and go with it. Don't take it personal, you will most likely play worse if you take offense and get angry. Same goes if some random person on your team trash talks you for sucking in a match.
ALA - Acknowledge, Learn, and Adapt.
Have fun out there in the crucible Guardians!

Pvp is pointless I know I wasted most of the 80s 90s and 00s on it No one gives a shit about my kd No ones gives a damn about yours Co op is much better Pvp is just to keep you busy with the least amount of content... A worthless grind to find out who has the worst connection.
