To Deej, about quitting

Dear Deej, Most will say I am a whiner, and maybe I am. I write this while I am downloading all the GTA V update since September. I have played daily since day one with the exception of four days. I am had level 30's and now three level 32's. I am the leader of a small clan and have finished dozens of raids. I have a lot of stuff, but I don't have Gjallahorn or even Hunger of Crota. I am switching to another game not because I got the exotic I was waiting for, but because no matter how dedicated I was, I could not even get a legendary that I would have settled for. RNG is a fickle bitch and I know you could not give a shit about one person, but I see people pulling away from Destiny. Maybe if you would make items more equitable, people would continue to play. In other words not give seven of one time and zero of another. Had I received either of these aforementioned weapons I would still be content to run strikes, carry the sword, or hold the relic. Alas, now I have lost heart. I will play GTA V and come back to the X that broke my heart when she calls at 2am sometime in May. Just for a few more bangs and the hope of that spark. If, however, it does not catch alight, I will continue to stray searching for the one that will complete me. I am writing this for all the diehards who have been looked over week after week. We may come back time to time, but you have lost our undying affection. I don't know what to tell you because you will claim your hands are tied. So I tell you that you made a good mostly finished game with some great features, but it is not a full game. I hope you think of the dedicated and create a way for them to become whole and continue to pursue carnage and friendship with their fellow guardians. Dangling a carrot may be a motivation, but it is not enough. Perhaps player contentment is not what you sought. Perhaps it was the incompleteness that guided you. In that case, job well done. My love affair with Destiny was an unrequited love and I am sure I will return, but my heart is broken. My GTA update is almost done. Farewell, my love. I will see you again soon and the pain may be worth it...only time will tell. Sincerely, The broken hearted. EDIT: I indented, and made, paragraphs... since that seemed to be a major complaint. Thanks for all the replies, I did not expect this many. EDIT 2: To clarify, I will still play to run the sword for my clan and help them with nightfalls, but for me the 7 days per week thing is done. That's what I mean by quitting. My personal motivation is gone, but I will still help friends a couple times per week. Maybe HOW will get me back on daily. EDIT 3: First run on Crota norm this week and I got Hunger of Crota. Go figure. Gjallahorn Jr. EDIT 4: Gjallahorn!!!! Second run on Crota norm. WTF!!!! I think Bungie and RNGesus heard me. Thanks!!!!

  • If you enjoy destiny stop grinding for something that may or may noire drop. A rocket launcher that you don't currently have isn't going to magically make the game fun. However, grinding house upon hours for a gun that you think you must have will make the game more frustration than fun. Personally, I'm a collector and want all the exotic weapons. I use some more than others and there are a few that I have yet to actually use. Universal remote was one I have wanted since I read about it in the arms booklet that came with my limited edition but it is the one exotic in destiny that has never dropped for me. I didn't worry about it and knew that it would causally be mine. I just enjoyed what I did have and finally a few weeks ago xur carried it for the first time. I have always played destiny for fun and have never looked at it as a grind because there is no point in fretting over something you may or may not get. It doesn't mean I wasn't super excited once I finally got the last piece of my collection, I even shouted a little, it just means I didn't let not getting it ruin the game for me.
